  1. We are geniuses acquiring players and giving up nothing. ONLY DO THAT FROM NOW ON
  2. I'll always associate Jed with [CROSSOUT]GBV[/CROSSOUT] (edit: BVW, not Guided By Voices). He came with risk, but seemed an ok pickup anyway, despite his chumminess with Brodie. What a weird two years for Jed. Oh, and the two earflap helmet.
  3. The only casualty of the pandemic I'm rooting for is the handshake. What's it even for? I have no desire to hold another human's hand in my own again, then wriggle our arms back and forth.
  4. I only got to Shea once and I saw Kris Benson and the Pirates handle the Mets and I can't for the life of me remember if I took a photo.
  5. I kinda like this roll of the dice. He was decidedly terrible last year, but 4.1 fWAR in 2019 was pretty damn good! His switch-hitteriness should present plenty of opportunities for him to show he's still got it.
  6. Yeah I think it's interesting to see the Mets had limits they absolutely wouldn't cross on Realmuto, Springer and Bauer. All very good players, but arguably not top-20, in the heart-of-their-prime players. I think maybe that's good?
  7. Bauer to the Dodgers, per Heyman. lololol
  8. Could put a farm team there. I know recalling a pitcher would take like a month, but it would still be better than Vegas.
  9. Trev's social media intern may have jumped the gun on some shit
  10. =metsmarathon post_id=55483 time=1612546147 user_id=83] man, i'm conflicted about the dude. i mean on a personal level. i think so much of him is just a social awkwardness and forced contrarianism that comes across as a massive asshole. and maybe he really is a narcissistic asshole, who isn't nearly aware enough of other people. i don't know that he's necessarily clubhouse poison, unless a team demands he fit into a mold he clearly doesn't fit. and i surely don't think he rises to the level of terribleness that mickey and porter have reached. he also doesn't like calloway, or especially gerrit cole, so there's that. it could all fall apart, and he could be an intolerable asshole, i suppose. but there are certainly worse people in baseball available, which is faint praise to be sure.
  11. She's young but she's talented. She was a buddy of Trevor's from UCLA, but she's also a take-no-shit lawyer who worked for MLBPA.
  12. His affair shouldn't matter necessarily, but his pattern of behavior against women, including those who cover the Angels while he's been employed by the Angels should bother the Angels.
  13. And the Angels have... suspended Mickey? Why drag this out?
  14. =ashie62 post_id=55334 time=1612284943 user_id=90] Shitty sexual misdeed behavior is shitty sexual misdeed behavior. I see little difference between Mickey and Porter. Sandy had no idea, really? You can't say one is less explicit than the other IMHO.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: Not having an Athletic subscription, and lacking the will to sort through tweets and figure out who is credible and who isn't, how do the Callaway infractions compare to those of Porter? I don't know, but I'm gleaning no dic pics and no 60-text blowups. Inappropriate and unprofessional and kind of pathetic but not skewing so much toward borderline criminal harassment as the other guy. Is that right? I'd maybe rate his shitty behavior a rung below Porter's on "the Shitty Behavior Ladder". Seems they both had terrible boundaries when it came to flooding poor reporters with unwanted text messages. But Mickey seemed to send less after not getting a response and he would send shirtless selfies instead of junk mail. Maybe the Mets did want Kim Ng and she was like, "hell no".
  16. And some of these institutional short investors are starting to lose their shirts. And these shirts cost about a billion dollars. So in comes Steve Cohen and he loans one of these shorts about a billion bucks to whether this storm. Is that the thing Cohen "unequivocally" denied to Barstool guy? It's wild. Yesterday, AOC called out Robinhood, Ted Cruz agreed with her (then AOC told Ted Cruz to go fuck himself). I have Robinhood and I notice they've opened up limited trading on AMC and Gamestop but I'm sure that 24 hours of lockdown allowed truckloads of money to swing directions. #freemarket
  17. Loup gets "around $3M" to play for the Mets this year, per Martino. On the subject of Rosenthal, Fangraphs predicts 2 years/$16M for him. I can't decide if I think that's a good deal or what.
  18. Are We Having Fund Yet? Barstool Attacks Cohen Who Wants the Games to Stop
  19. Cohen online defending himself from the shit-peddler that runs Barstool sports over Robinhood, Gamestop, etc. I think today seems a good day to avoid the website twitter dot com.
  20. Reid-Foley was pretty well regarded at one point and is still only 25? That dude alone could be as good as Matz this year. I feel like the Mets dumped salary, added some young pieces and didn't damage their depth at the major league level. Yay.
  21. Yeah memories of Steven will always include grandad Matz. What a debut. He possesses all the skills and when he would strikeout nine dudes you'd think it should always happen. But alas he had trouble harnessing it, and his expressions bore the frustrations we all felt. Good luck, dude.
  22. standing-ovation.gif Big fan of this trade.
  23. Has anyone seen how much this deal is for?
  24. I mean, when you make "jokes" about killing journalists (amongst other abhorrent shit he's said), the journalists voting on you may not have any trouble weighting "character" a little more.
