  1. Stopping back at my office after completing the Flushing - Manhattan phase of the trip home to Jersey. Good food. Good beer. Great people. Crappy game.
  2. I'll probably be on the 4:46 train out of Penn Station, which will get me there just in time for dinner.
  3. Best theme music in MLB. "Low Rider" and various other funk songs with vaguely Latino character.
  4. Former Mets in Buctown: Church One minor correction - Church is now an Arizona Dbag. I had the pleasure of watching him pop up weakly as a pinch-hitter at Chase Field last Tuesday night in a losing effort against the Redlegs. As a side story, Drew Stubbs Churched third base while attempting to score on a Paul Janish double, and was called out on an appeal play. As a side story to that, the "J" in Janish is pronounced like a "Y", and "Janish" does not rhyme with "vanish". You may now return to the discussion of Fman's funny-as-all-hell KTE.
  5. Freaking awesome. And next time you're ordering a Big Mac, may it be Tommy from when you were six who's asking you if you want fries and a Coke with your order. And if soupcan ever sells his house, I hope Bill buys it. Not to get off topic here, but when did they make Doumit a right fielder?
  6. Which Met has the most World Series hits? My rapidly failing memory tells me that 1973 was the only Series where the Mets showed much offense. Rusty?
  7. SteveJRogers wrote: Team we are playing tonight, Braves Eddie Mathews Indeed it is. A third baseman wearing 41. Who would've thunk it?
  8. Not Nuxhall (or the Reds).
  9. Woo hoo! Only Major League baseball team besides the Mets to retire #41? And for whom was it retired? (oe - edited to specify MLB)
  10. Buffalo?
  11. Lowest to highest point value in Scrabble would work pretty well, except for Wright being way down in the order. Reyes 8 Thole 8 Pagan 8 Beltran 9 Davis 9 Castillo 10 Wright 13 Francoeur 14 Dickey 16
  12. Concerned that your D1ckey isn't working like it should? The Hospital for Special Surgery can help!
  13. The U is for ug-lee. 6 batters faced in the third at CBP, zero retired. Phightins 7, Rox 0. Player IP H R ER BB K HR BFP Pit B-S ERA OpBA U. Jimenez 2 3 6 6 6 2 0 15 65 37 - 28 2.75 .204
  14. Good chance I'll take the day off from work and go to that game too. I still have your cell # from the July 4 run where we didn't get together, so I'll give you a call if I'm there.
  15. Willets Point wrote: George W. Bush should be in there for getting the government to build them a stadium and making massive profits from public money. W actually isn't a bad guess. If Willets isn't guessing him, I will. Also Billy Martin. OE - I looked it up and I'm 0 for 2. That's not an easy list. On the other hand, I think I'd find "Name a Texas Ranger" to be a fairly difficult trivia question.
  16. When I grow up, I want to be like CF's nephew.
  17. It's the top of the 7th at Citizens Bank Park. Castillo is batting and Reyes is on first with one out. Wright is on deck, then Beltran. Halladay is pitching for the Phillies. Santana led off the inning for the Mets. Score is 2-1 Phillies. What is your strategy as far as bunting, stealing, hit-and-run? Why? Name one situation in a game you have been involved in where the manager has chosen to bunt and you disagreed. Similarly, name one situation where the manager has chosen not to bunt and you disagreed.
  18. I have no memory of David Segui playing anywhere but 1B, but I'll guess that son-of-a-pitcher as the last guy. Did he ever start in RF? on edit...read through the whole thread, Chad. Read through the whole thread.
  19. Hubie Brooks, 3B & SS
  20. Former Red and Expo, and current HOFer, and '60's guy, and post-season opponent Tony Perez?
  21. I have vague childhood memories of Don Hahn getting off to a hot start in 1973. I'll guess him as the April '73 PlayerOTM.
  22. themetfairy wrote: Second Spitter - 1 Wow. This means TMF might not win the prize for longest distance traveled to CitiField. But it'll be close. It's a work night, but eff work. The Mets are more important. Count me in.
  23. Dickey 4.25 Wright 1.75 Bay .25 Cora 2.25 Thole 1 Davis .5
  24. Thanks for the knowledge...I was wondering why the Nats had started sucking again.
