Obviously not Cespedes (and not counting McNeil), but do you think we'll see any of the rest of those guys before the end of the season? They're running out of opportunities for rehab games. I would guess: 1. Cespedes. Spring training 2020 2. Nimmo. Maybe September. But who knows what sort of playing shape he'll be in. Hopefully he can get healthy for next year. 3. Smith. Maybe September, but not likely. He's in a walking boot for the first 3 weeks of August. 4. Lowrie. We have literally no idea what is wrong with him. So impossible to evaluate. 5. Cano is done. Torn hamstring is 12 weeks.
  2. A bunch of things. Some of it is just regression to the mean and some good luck. The Mets are not a great team, but likely aren't as bad as they were playing. Other than that: *soft schedule *Starters are pitching much better. I've said before, I wonder if the second half ball is different. I guess time will tell. *Justin Wilson pitching better than he is over this stretch *Rosario *Random great performances. I guess this is an example of the good luck mentioned above.
  3. This feels like a bad loss. After a few weeks of not caring I'm reminded how much I hate Mickey Callaway.
  4. Why do I get this feeling that this is going to be a really tough game? Come on guys. Also, getting no work done. I should just go home.
  5. They can, and they did. https://theathletic.com/1044790/2019/06/25/yes-the-baseball-is-different-again-an-astrophysicist-examines-this-years-baseballs-and-breaks-down-the-changes/https://theathletic.com/1044790/2019/06/25/yes-the-baseball-is-different-again-an-astrophysicist-examines-this-years-baseballs-and-breaks-down-the-changes/ Requires a subscription. But if you DL the app, you get 3 free articles per month. She's an astrophysicist. I don't remember all the details, but basically the seams are lower, the ball is rounder, the leather is smoother. Everything you can ask for to kill the spin on a ball.
  6. Yeah, anonymous sources cause the reader to rely on the integrity of the reporter. And Tracky has proven over and over that he has none. He's proven to be a troll. Posting inciteful messages then following with "What? I'm just reporting." When in truth, nothing he does even resembles reporting.
  7. Suddenly everyone can throw their sliders again?
  8. I guess Zack won't be interested now that he's this close to FA. But lock him up. I've gone completely 180 on him. Would love to see him stay a Met. And do the same for Noah.

  10. Diamondbacks got weaker. And I don't think SF has the horses to sustain.

  12. Five games out. Five teams in front of them. Two months left to go. The next nine games are against non-contenders. deGrom pitching tonight...
  13. Sometimes I feel like Facebook is stalking me. Like, I think it and it ends up in my ads. The Mets are just the opposite. I worry that they will do something really stupid only to find out they are considering it.
  14. I don't know much about Marcus Stroman, except that he doesn't seem to be anywhere near good enough to warrant the term "ace", which I've heard tossed around. Nice ERA this year, but it was 5.54 a year ago. 1.28 career WHIP suggests good, but not great pitcher. I heard Anthony Kay only projected to a mid rotation guy, but I heard that there was a real high upside for Woods Richardson. But he's 18 and a pitching prospect, so what do you know. I hope that this deal is not a justification for dealing Noah Syndergaard, because that would be beyond dumb.
  15. I have a nephew at this game. Win it for him Mets.

The Yankee great, already a murderer of small children and puppies, adds Trump Supporter to his storied resume. https://www.foxnews.com/faith-values/mariano-rivera-trump-israel-baseball-yankees-hall-of-famehttps://www.foxnews.com/faith-values/mariano-rivera-trump-israel-baseball-yankees-hall-of-fame
  18. You know what will help umpires judge a white ball against an orange pole? White lettering. Let's go with that.
  19. Homophobic chicken foul poles at our stadium. The homophobic chicken foul poles were installed before any Seaver statue. Let that soak in.
  20. I would love to hear what Bernie Sanders has to say about Chris Paddack.
  21. This is exactly right. A terrific cover. But it was up against Casey. Wait a second. Willie's an "old man scratching his head" but you're cool with Casey over Darling? Ha. All kidding aside, the Casey picture is iconic. The look on his face is like "Well, I'm not sure what I got myself into, but what the hell." I have nothing against Mays (or old men) but I didn't like that cover at all. It's such a nothing photo. He is either scratching his head, or adjusting his helmet, or something equally as uninteresting. It's not an action shot, there's no context to it. It's literally just a picture of Willie Mays. Looking a bit uncomfortable at that. Unless you have that emotional connection to Mays, there's no reason to vote for that cover.

  23. I know he wasn't the best of guys when he was here, but I still feel bad for him. Could have been a hall of famer. Say what you want, he told his agent to go to hell and put the team first in 2015. I'll cheer for him every time I see him.
