  1. I’ve read and heard many times that one of the ground breaking things about “Citizen Kane” (1941) is that it was the first time a ceiling had been shown in a movie set. i just saw “the Mark of Zorro” (1940) in which Tyrone Power thrusts his sword into the ceiling of a tavern. so much for movie history. later
  2. Where my grandson just graduated. later
  3. It's about time the Mets lucked into a Craig Biggio-like successful position move. There may not be a need for it, but I'd give it a try. Later
  4. They measure their gas in liters, measure home runs in meters and temperature in Celsius. When they announce the attendance, I wonder if that will be in American numbers. If the Mets gat some wins in this series, will they be allowed to bring them back into the States without paying tariff? L:ater ,
  5. Yikes! I would have thought that a .354/.447/.998 slash line for John Olerud would have made him an all-star. But it didn't. Later
  6. When you have that many cleanup hitters it means you don’t have one. later
  7. Maybe when he went down after that game he figured out what went wrong and has corrected it. I'd like to find out. Later
  8. I'm for keeping Thornton on the major league roster instead of Senga. Trade Senga, demote him or release him, I don't care. Thornton pitched a really effective game. Give him a chance until he proves he can't do the job. Later
  9. If you had to recap the scoring in the White Sox 22 runs against KC, we could run out of disc space. Later
  10. Let him have his own opinions. But he has no right to, and shouldn't, drag* Posey down with him Thanks, Later *= no pun intended
  11. Wasn't Scott on the IL with "impingement"? Someone will have to be dropped to make room for him. Later
  12. Haven't been following. What did he do/say? Posey is idolized in SF. Later
  13. He went out with a very classy statement. I wish him well. later
  14. They looked lifeless. they should fire the manager. later
  15. The saddest part of that is the comment "one of the most egregious examples of the mismanagement". That means there have been others. Later
  16. I remember screaming in frustration over his lineup and in-game moves. I can't remember a game going by when I didn't think "Why the F did he do that?" Later
  17. It was my requisite shot at Torre. Nothing else. Later
  18. Got it. I thought it meant 6 years of control from when they initially sign a player, including the minors. Thanks to both of you. Later
  19. I hope they keep him as a reserve and not as part of a platoon with Ewing. I want Ewing to be given a real chance of proving that he can play every day. Later
  20. I think that's the way it used to be. Teams could keep a player in the minors for three years, after which they had to be added to the major league roster or possibly lose them in the Rule V Draft. Then, they had three years during which they could be optioned to the minors from the major league team. I don't see how this changes anything. Later
  21. The DH rule and Mariano Rivera made it easier for him. He didn't have to think as much as when he managed in the NL earlier in his career. Later
  22. He would be another slow ex-Cardinal first basemen to manage the Mets. The other had a .405 winning percentage. Later
  23. Now we know what was done. Later
  24. Somebody in management had to go to shake up things. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. He had to work with the players he had, and the roster has too many holes. And he wasn't exactly a brilliant tactician. He should be holding Stearns' hand as they both walk out the door. Later
