  1. Carlos Carrasco was released by the MFYs after going 2-2 with a 5+ ERA this year. Later
  2. Max Scherzer on the 60 day IL - thumb injury. Later
  3. As Donald Sutherland said in the Dirty Dozen, "Very pretty , Colonel. But can they fight?" That's all well and good, but will they win Schaeffer Suds? Oh, uh, congrats to both of them. Later
  4. Brandon took the loss, dropping his record to 1-3. But he pitched well: 4.1IP 5H 2R 2ER 2BB 4K dropping his ERA to 5.48 Later
  5. Matt had another short, no decision start (37 pitches): 2.0IP 2H 0R 0ER 1BB 3K His ERA is now 2.25 Later
  6. Matt had a brief start(27P). 2.0IP 1H 1R 1ER 1BB 1K 1K his ERA is now 2.70 (no decision) Later
  7. Brandon hit a big bump in the road: 2.1IP 6H 6R 6ER 2BB 1K 1HR and his ERA grew to 5.79 Later
  8. The old pitcher in me would want to strike every batter out, for fear they would hit the ball near, but not directly at, that defense. On any balls hit toward left center I would run to back up third. Later
  9. Alvarez has four passed balls in limited action behind the plate. I'd let him get some more rust out. I'm not sure if he's ready defensively to catch when brought up. Later
  10. Congrats for making the majors, kid. Too bad it wasn't with the Mets. Later
  11. I had forgotten that Miggy played shortstop. BR lists him at 5-9, 220 lbs, but he led the league with 159 games played there at age 35 (2009). Rodriguez should have hit many more as a shortstop but, you know, Jeter. It will give me great joy when Lindor passes Derek. Later
  12. Matt had a hiccup, and struggled through 49 pitches. His numbers: 1.2IP 2H 2R 2ER 3BB 3K his ERA is now 2.25 Later
  13. His fourth start was his best yet. The numbers: 6.0IP 4H 0R 1BB 1K lowering his ERA to 3.31 Later
  14. Seeing this in the baseball passings thread was a shocker when I scrolled down through the thread, until I saw the text above the picture. Later
  15. Brandon's third start was the best of the season so far: 4.1IP 2H 1R 1ER 2BB 6K dropping his AAA ERA to 5.23. Later
  16. Matt followed up his first start with another strong one for St. Lucie: 3.2IP, 2H, 0BB, 3K and his ERA is still 0.00 Later
  17. That may have been what it looked like when Michael Jordan tried to play baseball. Later
  18. You're right. It is bmfc1 who started the thread who is the culprit. You guys look alike. Later
  19. Then you might as well learn to spell his name correctly. It is Mangum. Later
  20. Matt Allan made his first appearance in a pro game in six years, a story that made national headlines. He was excellent, striking out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and throwing 28 of 44 pitches for strikes. Allan pitched in the minors in 2019 after the Mets selected him in the third round but suffered major setbacks after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. He then underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and continued to suffer setback after setback until now. RHP Matt Allan, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K Welcome to the family, kid. Stay well (knocking wood, Kanehara) Later
  21. If they were going to give us a territorial battle, I'd have preferred Sharks VS Jets, with real knives. Later
  22. Lindor and Soto have been quoted recently as saying they would like getting him and it would be a great move. I'm not sure if this is bordering on tampering (probably not since he isn't a free agent), but if they keep it up some people at the commissioner's office will start monitoring this closely. But that's not going to stop the reporters from asking. Later
  23. Bleacher creatures is too kind a description of them. Later
  24. Memo to Dom: The new bats won't help. Later
  25. In two games, he's gone 4-7 with a double and 2 RBI and 2 SB. He became just the second player since 1912 to achieve such a feat — four hits and two stolen bases in one of his first two games. The only other player to reach this landmark? Casey Stengel, Later
