The old pitcher in me would want to strike every batter out, for fear they would hit the ball near, but not directly at, that defense. On any balls hit toward left center I would run to back up third. Later

I had forgotten that Miggy played shortstop. BR lists him at 5-9, 220 lbs, but he led the league with 159 games played there at age 35 (2009). Rodriguez should have hit many more as a shortstop but, you know, Jeter. It will give me great joy when Lindor passes Derek. Later

Matt Allan made his first appearance in a pro game in six years, a story that made national headlines. He was excellent, striking out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and throwing 28 of 44 pitches for strikes. Allan pitched in the minors in 2019 after the Mets selected him in the third round but suffered major setbacks after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. Lindor and Soto have been quoted recently as saying they would like getting him and it would be a great move. I'm not sure if this is bordering on tampering (probably not since he isn't a free agent), but if they keep it up some people at the commissioner's office will start monitoring this closely.
