  1. You're right. It is bmfc1 who started the thread who is the culprit. You guys look alike. Later
  2. Then you might as well learn to spell his name correctly. It is Mangum. Later
  3. Matt Allan made his first appearance in a pro game in six years, a story that made national headlines. He was excellent, striking out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings and throwing 28 of 44 pitches for strikes. Allan pitched in the minors in 2019 after the Mets selected him in the third round but suffered major setbacks after the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19. He then underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and continued to suffer setback after setback until now. RHP Matt Allan, 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, BB, 5 K Welcome to the family, kid. Stay well (knocking wood, Kanehara) Later
  4. If they were going to give us a territorial battle, I'd have preferred Sharks VS Jets, with real knives. Later
  5. Lindor and Soto have been quoted recently as saying they would like getting him and it would be a great move. I'm not sure if this is bordering on tampering (probably not since he isn't a free agent), but if they keep it up some people at the commissioner's office will start monitoring this closely. But that's not going to stop the reporters from asking. Later
  6. Bleacher creatures is too kind a description of them. Later
  7. Memo to Dom: The new bats won't help. Later
  8. In two games, he's gone 4-7 with a double and 2 RBI and 2 SB. He became just the second player since 1912 to achieve such a feat — four hits and two stolen bases in one of his first two games. The only other player to reach this landmark? Casey Stengel, Later
  9. New news: The Mets were unable to get Canario through waivers and have trade the outfielder to the Pirates for cash. Too bad. I think there will be a need for him later this season. Later
  10. As Yogi said, "Half of this game is 90% mental". The change makes them feel more confident. But from a Physics standpoint, FK is right - the more mass toward the end of the bat generates more power (assuming contact) if the sweet spot is out there. My science* starts to dim out when I try to figure if there will be more broken bats when the hitter gets jammed with the new shaped bats. Later * = calculating angular momentum
  11. I thought I read that Canario also cleared waivers and was re-signed to Syracuse. OOPS. See next post. Later
  12. The Mets just announced their AAA Syracuse roster. Despite pitching better than some of the veterans this spring, Trey did not make it. So it looks like he's going back to Binghamton. RATS! Later
  13. Those first two homers would have been outs in a real major league ballpark. Later
  14. They first diagnosed the cause of death as asphyxia. If so, some of the obvious signs must have been present. There are non-specific physical signs used to attribute death to asphyxia. These include visceral congestion via dilation of the venous blood vessels and blood stasis, petechiae, cyanosis and fluidity of the blood. (Petechiae are tiny hemorrhages). If they have ruled it out, then there must be something that made them think it was asphyxia. The resort management claims it wasn't food poisoning. So I'm guessing a heretofore undiagnosed familial food allergy, since others in the family felt ill, too. I'm not a forensic scientist. But I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and used to watch Quincy, M.E. and House. Later
  15. Stearns is responsible for the on field product. I highly doubt this is his doing. Cast your gaze instead towards Uncle Steve and his smoke machine blowing/fireworks spewing/dugout roof dancing/retired number-of-the-month promotional crew. Maybe you're right. But it still smells like braunschweiger to me. Later
  16. I know Stearns came here from Milwaukee. This is the equivalent of their sausage race. But we are NOT Milwaukee. We do not need small town hokey crap to keep the fans interested here. This is New York. Disgraceful. Later
  17. Troy Schreffler's a U of Maryland Terrapin, so he's go that going for him. (Go Terps) Luis Moreno popped up in minor league box scores a lot last year, as I saw he was used as both a starter and reliever. He started the year getting clobbered (ERA around 6). Then as the year progressed, he got it down into the 4's. He had a few good outings with the big club this spring. I hope he continues to improve this year. As for another Luis Moreno? I got nuthin'. Later
  18. I can't answer that without knowing which other players they would have acquired for the cost of those two. Later
  19. HEY! My kid, Trey Mclaughlin is not only still in camp, but closing games. He got his first save the other day. My daughter had dinner with his mother last night, and they both would be very mad at you if I told them you are ignoring him. He at least deserves a "Still in camp" mention. Later
  20. 1. What will the Mets' record be? 82-80 2. Predict the NL East standings from 1 to 5: Phillies, Atlanta, Mets, Washington, Miami 3. Will the Mets make the playoffs (if so, as the division champ or 1st, 2nd, or 3rd WC)? 2nd WC 4. If so, how far will they go? Lose in the NLDS 5. Who will be the World Champion? Milwaukee Brewers 6. Number of regular season HRs for Pete Alonso: 34 7. Who will be on the cover of the 2025 winner of the Tabloid Cover Derby? Mark Vientos Later
  21. PSST, just between you and me, I think they make the load times so long so that we'll get frustrated and sign out before we can get to the Bitch to the Admin page and bitch about slow load times. Later
  22. Has broken left hamate bone replaced quad strain as the injury of the year? Both Alvarez and Hagenman have it. Is it catching, or are only batterymen at risk? Later
  23. I heard that song a lot when I was a kid. RIP. Later
  24. Channeling Rodney Dangerfield, "The second opinion is... he's ugly." Later
  25. I thought it might have been. Later
