  1. A Mets version of the Jets' Wayne Chrebet. He doesn't impress you until he beats you. I wish him well. Later
  2. He was promoted to AAA Syracuse today. Later
  3. Mike Vasil is a right handed starting pitcher now at Binghamton. The 2021 draftee from the U of Virginia was just voted Eastern League player of the month. Welcome to the family, kid. Make us proud. Later
  4. Amazinavenue.com rates him the team's #11 prospect.https://www.amazinavenue.com/2023/1/20/23555170/mets-top-25-prospects-for-2023-rhp-calvin-ziegler-11 Later
  5. Cal got a playoff start tonight for St. Lucie. His line: 1.1 IP, 2H, 2R, 2ER, 3B, 3K 43 pitches, 24 strikes. Later
  6. Cal started the first game of tonight's doubleheader. His line:2.2IP, 4H, 2R, 2ER, 4BB, 2K. He's thrown 60 pitches, with 28 strikes. The game is in a rain delay with his team losing 2-0. OE: the game resumed. He got the loss (final score 4-0) It dropped his record to 0-6. Later
  7. Well, the streak got snapped. Cal didn't get out of the first inning tonight. His line was .2IP, 4H, 5R, 5ER, 1BB, 2K. The team is down 0-8 in the second inning. Sigh Later
  8. After getting rained out yesterday, Calvin started today's first game of the double header for St. Lucie. He was the losing pitcher 3-1. His numbers: 3 IP (his longest stint this year),2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4K) His streak, of not giving up more than 2 hits in any start, continues. Later
  9. Zebulon Vermillion (that is FUN to type) pitched a scoreless inning in his pro debut last night. Later
  10. The kid started again tonight. He pitched 2 1/3, gave up one hit (his string of two or fewer its in every start is still alive), one un-earned run, walked three and struck out two. No decision. Later
  11. The kid is easing back into the rotation. He started today, and his line was: 2IP, 0 H,0 R, 1 B, 3K (he hit one batter) His string is still intact of never giving up more than two hits in any start. Later
  12. Wish you luck in your new home, Thomas. Write and let us know how you're doing. Later
  13. The kid finally pitched tonight. (He must have been on the IL) He pitched 2/3 of an inning, gave up one run (not earned) no hits, but walked three and struck out one. This continues his streak of not giving up more than two hits in any game he's started - sorta. Later
  14. No official word, but Calvin hasn't pitched in about two weeks. Me must be on the IL. Or was eaten by a gator. Later
  15. Cal can't seem to get any help. He was the "opener" in tonight's game. He pitched one inning, gave up one run on one hit and struck out two. He took the loss because the pitchers who followed him soiled the linens giving up the final 13 runs on 16 hits in a 17-2 loss. Later
  16. Cal was the losing pitcher today. He gave up three hits (the first time this year) and 3 ER, with 1 BB and 4 K in 3 1/3 IP. Later
  17. Last night he pitched two hitless innings in his first start since coming back from a brief stint on the IL. That continued his streak of not giving up more than two hits in any game he has pitched. His line for the year is now 8G, 8 GS, 31 IP, 11 H, 19 BB, 51K, 2.90 ERA, .968 WHIP. Later
  18. He started and pitched 4 2/3 innings last night. He gave up (only) two hits (again) walked three and struck out nine. Later
  19. Cal pitched four no decision innings last night in which he struck out nine batters. He as started six games this year, and has not given up more than two hits in any start. https://www.milb.com/player/calvin-ziegler-683349 Later
  20. I'm adopting 19 year old Canadian right handed starting pitcher Calvin Ziegler. He was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2021 Amateur draft. He didn't play last year but has started off his professional this year at St. Lucie (low A). In four games he has pitched 14 2/3 innings. Maybe opposing hitters are intimidated by his 160 kilometers per hour fastball speed. Maybe Poutine really is the breakfast of champions. Whatever the reason, he has given up just five hits and struck out twenty-six batters (not a misprint) in those 14 2/3 inings. Welcome to the family, Cal. Later
  21. We're not going to let a little thing like a change in CPF format stop my adoption of this lefty pitcher. He dropped off the radar with TJ surgery, and made cameo appearances at several minor league stops during rehab last year. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=szapuc000tho He may start off in the bullpen to build up his stamina, but the kid was rated as a major league starter and I think he'll be in the rotation at AAA, with an appearance in the majors this year. Welcome home, kid. The pirogies are cooking as we speak. Later
  22. Anyone with a family name that is a size for a bottle of Champagne has greatness written all over him. Later
  23. Brodie just traded my kid. May he ****ing rot! Later
  24. I've adopted second baseman Luis Santana. He was rated #12 in various rankings, but that was before Kelenic and Dunn were traded for Robinson Cano. The 19 year old second baseman had a successful first year playing in the US: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=santan002lui I hope he continues his development and becomes Cano's replacement when Robinson is ready to move to another position. Welcome, Luis. Mi casa es su casa. LAter
