Two items of good news about Trey: 1) He has been signed by Syracuse and will continue to be in the Mets organization. 2) Trey got married, to a girl he met in college. I saw the wedding pictures (his mom is my daughter's friend) and she will be a welcome addition to the Mets wives club when he gets to the majors. Mazel tov to Trey. Later

At this point, I don't think the $/yr is the sticking point (probably around $30 million) but the length of contract. If Pete wants a three year opt out, I'd offer a player or team opt out clause after 3 years and see what happens. Later

His production needs to be replaced. But I'm not sure if I would spend the money all in one place or add a platoon DH like Joc Pederson and another first baseman (Walker?) and then go for pitching. The numbers 4-9 on the pitching staff (starters and relievers) leave me between uneasy and queasy. Later

The Mets announced a few roster moves on Monday, including sending OF DJ Stewart and LHPs Joey Lucchesi and Matt Gage outright to Triple-A. Stewart and Lucchesi elected free agency while Gage will return to Syracuse. Additionally, the Mets also reinstated RHPs Paul Blackburn, Sean Reid-Foley and Christian Scott as well as INF Ronny Mauricio from the 60-day IL. Later

Mets claimed Teaneck, NJ native Kevin Herget off waivers from the Brewers, per Robert Murray & Jon Heyman. Herget had a 2.27 ERA in 38 AAA appearances and a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 MLB innings in 2024. Later
