  1. The Wisconsin pavilion at the New York world's Fair (1964-65) proudly displayed the World's Largest Cheese. And a Tad's steak House. We can guess what happened to the cattle that couldn't produce enough milk. Later
  2. I realize it is an independent league, but are you sure they spell "Asszociation" that way? Later
  3. Two items of good news about Trey: 1) He has been signed by Syracuse and will continue to be in the Mets organization. 2) Trey got married, to a girl he met in college. I saw the wedding pictures (his mom is my daughter's friend) and she will be a welcome addition to the Mets wives club when he gets to the majors. Mazel tov to Trey. Later
  4. I agree. That would be nuts. Later
  5. At this point, I don't think the $/yr is the sticking point (probably around $30 million) but the length of contract. If Pete wants a three year opt out, I'd offer a player or team opt out clause after 3 years and see what happens. Later
  6. C'mon, Pete. Sign the contract under your tree and give all of us a present. Do it for the little children. Please. Later
  7. Griffin Canning to the left of Clay Holmes and not Manaea? BBBBUTT you said they signed him. You were so excited, we'll just chalk that up to what Tim McCarver used to call an error of enthusiasm. Later
  8. One Mets site (which I won't dignify by naming it) says that the Mets are interested in Paul Goldschmidt on a short term deal to replace Pete. UGH! Later
  9. Water on the brain? Later I have zero idea what this reply means. Swimming pool. Later
  10. Water on the brain? Later
  11. I read a few days ago that Pete says he will give the Mets the chance to match the best offer he receives. Sounds like he wants to stay. Later
  12. The teenage girls used to scream for him like he was a rock star. RIP Later
  13. His production needs to be replaced. But I'm not sure if I would spend the money all in one place or add a platoon DH like Joc Pederson and another first baseman (Walker?) and then go for pitching. The numbers 4-9 on the pitching staff (starters and relievers) leave me between uneasy and queasy. Later
  14. For what seemed like decades after Don Zimmer originally polluted the position I suffered from third base envy. And Melton was one of the players I pointed at and wondered, "Why can't we get one like him"? Later
  15. RIP Later
  16. The question stated you could vote for up to 10. Those are the same rules actual HoF voters are bound to. Later
  17. Nice work. Later
  18. Trey was not added to the 40 man major league roster and can be drafted by any other major league team in the rule V draft. Later
  19. Mike was not added to the 40 man major league roster and can be drafted by any other major league team in the rule V draft. Later
  20. Even Roger Maris had a career BA of .260. Grandy's was below .250 (.249) I looked, was surprised(shocked, actually), then went elsewhere with my votes. Later
  21. There are 18 first time names on the 2025 Hall of Fame Ballot. Later
  22. "pitch design and seam orientation"? That sounds like something we'd read in the Onion. Later
  23. Really interesting about the use of science. But i think using a device to track usage is a bit extreme. Thanks. Later
  24. The Mets announced a few roster moves on Monday, including sending OF DJ Stewart and LHPs Joey Lucchesi and Matt Gage outright to Triple-A. Stewart and Lucchesi elected free agency while Gage will return to Syracuse. Additionally, the Mets also reinstated RHPs Paul Blackburn, Sean Reid-Foley and Christian Scott as well as INF Ronny Mauricio from the 60-day IL. Later
  25. Mets claimed Teaneck, NJ native Kevin Herget off waivers from the Brewers, per Robert Murray & Jon Heyman. Herget had a 2.27 ERA in 38 AAA appearances and a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 MLB innings in 2024. Later
