  1. Yeah, I will stick with David Stearns. But that does classify as the first WATP of the season. Later
  2. Keep your hands off my kid Brandon!
  3. That made me laugh. Later
  4. Today's roster moves from SNY: -Catcher Francisco Alvarez has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse -RHP Dedniel Núñez has been transferred to the 60-Day Injured List -LHP Richard Lovelady has been outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse -Catcher Hayden Senger was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse -RHP Rico Garcia has been claimed off waivers from the Yankees (who says you can't come home again?) Additionally, RHP Paul Blackburn is expected to continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Later
  5. If you've ever been there, then you'd know why that doesn't come as much of a surprise. Later
  6. Never thought of that. The engineer in me suspects it may have something to do with airflow between the tiers causing dangerous and unpredictable wind currents that make steering (even more) dangerous. Another answer is single decked arenas are cheaper to build when available land isn't an issue.. Later
  7. Doesn't matter. This is a NASCAR track in Tennessee. They won't notice. Later
  8. He was also sent down to work on his defense, and he's had 4 passed balls and at least one error during that time. And in some of those games, he was a DH. So we'll have to see how much he has improved behind the dish. But if his bat is anything close to his recent numbers, he will be a welcomed addition. Later
  9. He's hit 11 homers in 16 games since his demotion. Get 'em while they're hot. Later
  10. Jonah kept rolling after the AS break. His numbers Friday night: 5.1IP 2H 1R 0ER 2BB 7K his season's ERA is now 1.71. To paraphrase that old song, How can you keep him down on the farm, While he continues to throw strike three? Later
  11. Brandon stayed in his good groove yesterday: 5.0IP 1H 1R 0ER 1BB 9K his season ERA has dropped to 4.34. His earned runless streak is now 24 innings. Later
  12. Metsmerized online has a midseason Top 50 list of Mets prospects: Here are their top 10: Jett Williams – SS/2B/CF Jonah Tong – RHP Nolan McLean – RHP Carson Benge – CF Brandon Sproat – RHP Jacob Reimer – INF Jesus Baez – INF Elian Pena – SS Ryan Clifford – 1B/COF A.J. Ewing – 2B/ the entire list https://metsmerizedonline.com/midseason-top-50-mets-prospect-list/ After a horrendous start, International bonus baby Pena has brought his average up to .250, with power. Looks like they may have chosen well. Later
  13. The Mets have activated Brooks Raley and DFA'd Richard Lovelady. Later
  14. I thought I saw Cam Tilly starring in a Hallmark Holiday movie, and she was lovely. Later
  15. Baseball Prospectus is the first to be released, and five Mets made it: 17 – Jett Williams, SS 20 – Jonah Tong, RHP 32 – Carson Benge, OF 34 – Nolan McLean, RHP 52 – Jacob Reimer, 3B Brandon Sproat has fallen from grace. CF, I guess this is what we can do during the break. Later
  16. Kick the tires before you light the fires. Later
  17. IIRC, he TOOK too many shots - of his thingie, and sent them to office personnel. Or was that the other short term GM? Later
  18. I'm sure Billy Eppler and Brodie are still available if you'd rather have them. I give Stearns the benefit of the doubt. I miss Jim Duquette. I miss Frank Cashen. Later
  19. That's what you get for doing a good job. Later
  20. J.D. Davis has signed to play baseball in the Japanese League ( I think I heard with Seibu Lions) Later
  21. He pitched six strong innings in his first start after being promoted to Binghamton. His numbers: 6.0IP 2H 2R 2ER 1BB 8K! Later
  22. As Red Barber used to say to avoid a jinx, "There have been 8 hits through seven innings in tonight's Seattle/ MFY game, and Seattle has all of them". Later
  23. You won't see him any time soon, Stearns prefers signing trash heap pitchers like Zach Pop and Colin Poche and instantly putting them on the roster instead of calling up the actual prospects. I saw a quote of his a few weeks ago in which he said he wouldn't bring up the kid pitchers this year, but might them in deals at mid season for proven major leaguers!!! Lets find out if those minor league prospects (McLain and Sproat) can get major league hitters out before they do something like that. Later
  24. Looks like Brandon is starting to put it together. Another good outing: 7.0IP 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 4K His season's ERA is now 4.61. Later
  25. The picture sizes are all different, by row, The major leaguers are larger than the non-25 man players. Makes sense. Intentional? Later
