The one thing about this that gets me is the prop bets such as "the first pitch will be a strike". Sometimes it seems that a pitcher can't always throw a strike when they want to. How can someone place money on a pitcher being able to do such a thing? It would seem better to place money on the first pitch being a ball(which is easier to throw). 'Tis a puzzlement. Later

Since we're talking about financial matters: https://metsmerizedonline.com/mets-post-record-308-million-total-revenue-in-2025/ The article doesn't specify the $247M tax payroll salaries mentioned above. But I noticed it does also not include any tv revenue. From those numbers, I can't figure out how much money they might have available for salaries, should they maintain those levels. Are tv revenue and salaries a wash, or are they being carried on the books of a separate corporation? The numbers don't seem to jibe. Anyone here able to help? Later

Leiper'smost recent coaching job came as the San Diego Padres’ third base coach last season. The California native’s baseball career began as a longtime minor leaguer, playing in 1,166 games across 12 seasons (including two stints with the Mets), from 1985-1996. He only played six games for the (then) Binghamton Mets in 1996, but transitioned into a coaching role that season, beginning his post-playing career. The Mets have claimed Ji Hwan Bae off waivers from the Pirates, per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. Bae, who played the outfield last year in Pittsburgh's system, has a career .586 OPS in 163 MLB games and logged an .805 OPS last season in 67 Triple-A games. My kid has been named to the Arizona League All Star game representing the Scottsdale Scorpions. He's batting .264/.333/.556 with five homers in 60 plate appearances and has swiped seven bases without getting caught. He served as the Scorpions’ designated hitter on Wednesday, though he’s also caught six games and played four games in left field and two at first base. Suero was ranked as the Mets’ No. 14 prospect in MMO’s Top-50 Prospect list in August. My guess is he could double on tenor sax or drums if asked. Later

I voted 4 but could have been convinced to make it a 3.5. He has money and spent it. But when he went after names to make a splash, as FK noted, I'm not sure he spent his money as wisely as he might have. And the mascot races are too much small town carny instead of major league class for my taste. But the plusses are he put the fannies back in the seats, and the team was winning again. Later

Please don't get hung up on the word surgery or the position he plays. My point was that arm injuries can be cured while back pain can be chronic. When I said too bad, I meant that it was too bad it wasn't arm related because I would have been more confident that he is fully cured. Back pain can continue to flare up. Later

Mattingly? Not ringing a SIM Score bell. Who did he pitch for and when? He was bothered by recurring back problems for years, regardless of the position he played. No SIM intended. I could have used David Wright as an example if I had thought of him first. Later

I had never heard of Jacoby Long. I looked him up to see if is related to one time prospect Terrence Long. There was no info on that but I discovered that Jacoby had played minor league ball at Woodstock (Valley League). We need someone who played at Woodstock because ... well, just because. Later
