  2. I know. But my mental picture of the reaction of the traditionalists was funny (to me). Later
  3. LOL! Interesting idea that would have traditionalists clutching their pearls. My view is that there are some players you look at and say "That guy's going to be a Hall of Famer". It is that obvious. But for them, no patch is needed. The others? Let them wait. Later
  4. I'm guessing it was a dick MFY fan (that's redundant) who wants to keep Mariano Rivera as the only unanimous HOF entry. Later
  5. The voting results will be announced today. Later
  6. Fixed that for ya'. Later
  7. Have those bots wanting to be members come with viruses attached? Have you implemented a checking program when someone hits enter? Is that what's slowing things down? LAter
  8. McNeil has been overlooked in many of the articles I've seen about off season moves. With the emphasis on power over average we've seen from him in the past few years, you could say he's starting to "hit like a third baseman". But I don't think he can come close to the power/speed combo that a healthy Mauricio delivers when he returns. But until he does return? Why not McSquirrel? Sometimes, some of the best moves are the ones you don't make. Later
  9. Reports (metsonline.com? amazinavenue.com?) say Mauricio may not be ready for spring training. He's still rehabbing from two surgeries. Will that mean they'll make a Bregman deal? Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter. Later
  10. When I saw the thread title I thought this was Galaxy Quest - until I read the synopsis. No vote. I haven't seen it and don't think I would want to. Later
  11. I was looking for a Steve Austin Bionic Man line, but that'll do. Good one. Later

  13. Welcome. Nice avatar. Later
  14. There ain't no cure for the wintertime blues. We're just going to have to wait for good news. Later
  15. Adapted from Robert Harris’ 2016 novel, “Conclave” follows Cardinal Dean Thomas Lawrence (played by Ralph Fiennes), who is tasked with overseeing the Vatican’s search for a new pope. Four candidates soon emerge, each with their own set of secrets or scandals. People who have seen it tell me that Ralph Fiennes should win his long deserved Oscar for this one. Later
  16. Gil Hodges is a given. Willard Hunter needs more recognition. I vote for Hunter Hodges. Later
  17. Have we gotten to the point where we have established a Matt Allen Award for the current organization player with the most years lost to injury? If we haven't, I nominate that guy for the first one. Later
  18. LOL! Kase, from one old dick to another, you're doing it very well. Keep up the good work. Later
  19. WFAN is reporting an "exclusive" (I didn't catch the name of the reporter) That Pete has agreed to accept a three year contract with the Mets, finances not disclosed/ still being worked out. The lack of more details makes me suspicious, but ... Later
  20. The longer this goes on, Pete's image of a lovable polar bear is going to get tarnished. Later
  21. After the 1960 World Series, in which the MFYs set all kinds of WS hitting records, but the Pirates won the Series, he said. "Good pitching stops good hitting. And Vice Versa". (Veale was a minor leaguer and didn't get into the Series.) He was a 6'6" lefty who wore thick glasses and must have scared the crap out of lefty hitters. RIP Later
  22. An old expression. I said I was too old for this ****. ^ Later
  23. I dunno. He strikes me as the child who is being offered candy. He wants it, but won't take it to spite his parents. What is a better word for that? Later
  24. To quote the sergeant in Stripes, "I'm getting too old for this ****". Piss, or get off the pot, Pete. Now you're just being obstinate. Later
  25. While he doesn't have elite range, he certainly has the stretch thing down right. He saved a lot of errors on bad throws last year. Later
