Please don't get hung up on the word surgery or the position he plays. My point was that arm injuries can be cured while back pain can be chronic. When I said too bad, I meant that it was too bad it wasn't arm related because I would have been more confident that he is fully cured. Back pain can continue to flare up. Later

Mattingly? Not ringing a SIM Score bell. Who did he pitch for and when? He was bothered by recurring back problems for years, regardless of the position he played. No SIM intended. I could have used David Wright as an example if I had thought of him first. Later

I had never heard of Jacoby Long. I looked him up to see if is related to one time prospect Terrence Long. There was no info on that but I discovered that Jacoby had played minor league ball at Woodstock (Valley League). We need someone who played at Woodstock because ... well, just because. Later

Had back surgery and missed an entire season and part of another some years ago. I forget the years, but I read that this morning. I know this sounds cruel, but too bad. If it had been an arm injury, some pitchers snap back even better after TJS. But backs are more iffy (see Mattingly- his pained him for years). Later

I would do it if we could swap out Megill for one of those two youngsters and sign Tarik to an extension. I'd keep Sproat and let Tong go. But that's just me. Later

His 2024 ERA of 3.47 seems to be an outlier among his 2020-2025 3.90 and over 4 ERAs. Sell while the other GM feels his pitching coach and/or medical staff can get him back on track.
