  2. You are joking right? The Daily News actually published that letter?
  3. Absolutely loved it. and while Vic debate its place at the top of the Superhero movie list (clearly the #1 DC film) I would go even further - is this the best movie with a female lead since... ever?
  4. very little interest this year? can we post the high/low/avg for each player so we can have a frame work for some debate?
  5. one more thing on relievers - these are the strand percentages for some of our primary guys. they dont show up in the box scores but they matter. Reed wasn't so great here. Familia was bad and didnt have too many chances (ie those "save situations" are usually easier than coming in mid-inning as others are asked to do) [league average is about 27%] PITCHerInheritedStrandedScore% Familia, Jeurys11554.50% Reed, Addison NYM332136.4% Robles, Hansel NYM483331.3% Smoker, Josh NYM121016.7% Henderson, Jim NYM191615.8% Salas, Fernando NYM201715.0% Edgin, Josh NYM201715.0% Blevins, Jerry NYM554714.5% Salas, Fernando NYM252212.0% Goeddel, Erik NYM181611.1% Montero, Rafael NYM770.0% Salas, Fernando550.0%
  6. Grimm - Familia over Reed? why? Saves are a crap stat - Familia was very very good this year - Reed was otherworldly
  7. FK - Wright gets a 1? I think you have him mis-ranked below our other less-successful part-time hitters Wright - 164 PA - 110 OPS+ Duda - 172 PA - 89 OPS+ Bruce - 184 PA - 82 OPS+ TJ Rivera - 113 PA - 117 OPS+ - you have him all the way up at 16 - he needs to move up my next rankings, but not 15 spots higher than David!
  8. First draft here trying to see how i feel about it... the dashes are my "tiers" - a few things that jumped out at me: -There is no chance I move Noah off #1 -Colon vs deGrom, and where to place Cespedes relative to them, is something i'm pretty unresolved on, but I have my top 4 in some order. -wow, we had basically 5 full-time players (Syndegaard, Colon, Cespedes, Cabrera, Granderson). -Harvey - I might replace him with Nimmo or something, he made the first draft just based on innings, but they were BAD innings. -Reed over Familia. Saved are a useless statistic and Reed was the better pitcher. RANK Name ------- 30 Noah Syndergaard ------- 29 Bartolo Colon 28 Yoenis Cespedes 27 Jacob deGrom ------- 26 Neil Walker 25 Asdrubal Cabrera 24 Steven Matz 23 Curtis Granderson 22 Michael Conforto ------- 21 Addison Reed 20 Jeurys Familia 19 Wilmer Flores ------- 18 Seth Lugo 17 Robert Gsellman 16 David Wright 15 James Loney 14 Jose Reyes 13 Kelly Johnson ------- 12 Lucas Duda 11 Hansel Robles 10 Jerry Blevins ------- 9 Jay Bruce 8 T.J. Rivera 7 Rene Rivera 6 Travis d'Arnaud 5 Juan Lagares 4 Erik Goeddel 3 Logan Verrett 2 Alejandro De Aza 1 Matt Harvey
  9. Eddie Murphy almost starred in Star Trek IV per a bunch of random internet stories like this one: http://movieweb.com/star-trek-4-voyage-home-eddie-murphy-character-details/ is this new information, unreliable bullshit, or something that has somehow escaped my attention all along?
  10. ENTERPRISE - there was absolutely nothing worth watching here I think that is true of 3 of the 4 seasons, but the 3rd season was good.
  11. The biggest spread for the full-time players looks like Familia with a low of 15th best (Nymr) and a high of 3rd overall (Zvon). People looking at the closer as a "full time player" is probably the reason for the disparity in that ranking and why out of the entire aggregate list Familia being so high is the thing i have the biggest problem with.
  12. I see multiple lists where d'Arnaud is 7-8 spots behind Cespedes and I just don't get it. Are you giving Cespedes credit for his stats in Oakland? d'Arnaud was just as big a part of the Mets' 2nd half resurgence, but coming back from injury isn't as sexy as a back page trade?
  13. we are boring!
  14. is someone going to post the "Average List" and highs/lows as points for further debate?
  15. i'll do it if you need the team
  16. A 3-run HR that makes a 6-2 lead into a 9-2 lead is nice, but a 2-run double that turns a 2-1 loss into a 3-2 win is nicer. All hits are not created equal so just looking at season totals doesn't tell the whole story. ok, sure, but anecdotal remembrances aside, Cespedes was no better, and arguably worse, than Murphy/Duda in these big spots. Duda killed the ball when the Mets were behind but barely hit when they were ahead. Cespedes saves his best hitting for when the Mets are ahead.CespedesPABAOBPSLGOPSPABAOBPSLGOPS Late & Close390.1880.3330.4060.740Within 3 R2020.2800.3320.6020.934 Tie Game840.2370.2980.5000.798Within 4 R2160.2830.3380.6210.959 Within 1 R1320.2540.3030.4920.795Margin > 4 R330.3130.3330.5000.833 Within 2 R1670.2860.3350.6040.939Ahead1030.3540.3980.7081.106 Behind620.2410.2900.5690.859 DudaPABAOBPSLGOPSPABAOBPSLGOPS Late & Close1010.2580.3470.4040.751Within 3 R4610.2530.3640.4760.840 Tie Game1740.2470.3680.4040.772Within 4 R4900.2480.3590.4690.828 Within 1 R3330.2540.3690.4570.827Margin> 4 R640.2180.2970.6180.915 Within 2 R4050.2460.3630.4630.826Ahead2010.2080.3330.4520.786 Behind1790.2800.3580.5990.956 MurphyPABAOBPSLGOPSPABAOBPSLGOPS Late & Close840.2370.2860.4610.746Within 3 R4390.2830.3260.4570.783 Tie Game1840.3100.3370.4770.814Within 4 R4680.2820.3230.4570.780 Within 1 R3070.3010.3390.4690.807Margin> 4 R700.2730.3140.3940.708 Within 2 R3860.2950.3390.4750.814Ahead1950.3100.3640.5110.876 Behind1590.2120.2520.3440.596
  17. I'm seeing Murphy and Cespedes being placed ahead of Duda pretty consistently here. I think its neck and neck between Duda and Murphy, maybe I need to weigh the postseason more, but why Cespedes? are we giving him extra credit for being acquired at the deadline? Duda did more than him. 18. 2015 vs 1973 Mets and their respective outlooks at the time for the next few years (2016-18 vs 1974-76) would make a great topic as opposed to more of the same we've had around here lately. I'm going to split off and see who wants to play rankings- 30 - Curtis Granderson 29 - Jacob deGrom 28 - Matt Harvey 27 - Lucas Duda 26 - Noah Syndergaard 25 - Daniel Murphy 24 - Travis d'Arnaud 23 - Yoenis Cespedes 22 - Wilmer Flores 21 - Ruben Tejada 20 - Michael Conforto 19 - David Wright 18 - Bartolo Colon 17 - Jon Niese 16 - Jeurys Familia 15 - Steven Matz 14 - Michael Cuddyer 13 - Juan Lagares 12 - Sean Gilmartin 11 - Kevin Plawecki 10 - Hansel Robles 9 - Juan Uribe 8 - Kelly Johnson 7 - Logan Verrett 6 - Erik Goeddel 5 - Alex Torres 4 - Tyler Clippard 3 - Eric Campbell 2 - Dillon Gee 1 - Carlos Torres
  19. based on the last 3 months of posts, this team finished 62-100 and missed the playoffs, right?
  20. I have gotten a little Marvelled out lately actually, I have yet to see Age of Ultron (but plan to as the blue ray just came out), I probably wont bother seeing Ant-Man or the new Fantastic Four from this summer. Eagerly awaiting Apocalypse's cinematic debut though!
  21. I already broke the "in theatres" streak a few times - but i dont even know that i'll watch this one until i can do so completely for free, it looks awful.

I found the fighting to be exhilarating and admired that they tried to provide some humanity to the guys but I just give up on making any sense of the rules for these things. The only way to solve problem X is a... nuclear heat shield! Okay! Whatever! I also had an issue with the supposedly invincible bad guy summoning a billion flying robot soldiers who were easier to kill than zombies in The Walking Dead. wtf? zombies, ninjas, robots, it doesnt matter - they all follow the same rules - a hundred of them together each die easily while one alone is impossible to kill, they are what the plot demands they be.
  23. agreed 110%... no more origin stories! especially for characters who have had 2 of them in the past 15 years.

I've found the cosmology of the Thor films weighty and stupid I thought I was the only one. I mean, I love-- LOVE-- me some old-school Thor, but I found myself as intensely annoyed as I have been in some time about midway through The Dark World, mostly at the fact that my Marvel Universe completism would force me to sit through the second half. but you managed to get through Elektra?
