Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Call up Dilson. Move Walker to first. Eric Campbell is not the answer.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 The other option I see is to bring up your friend T.J. Rivera to play first base. He's played nine games there at Vegas this year.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Monsieur Rubin is reporting Ty Kelly looms.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Sounds like it'll be Ty Kelly, he of the .391 BA in Vegas. Has played some first and third. They'll have to put him on the 40-man, though.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 That's a little surprising. Does that suggest that the DL time will be less for Duda?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Zvon wrote:Why is Dom Smith so not ready? He's got 40 games above A-ball. And he's not exactly tearing it up at AA.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 The most obvious solution usually being the one folks try first, so if Duda ends up on the DL, I'm guessing that the first plan is to play Wilmer Flores at first. Flores is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday, but that will likely only be a day or two.Dilson or Nimmo possibly get a callup for a few days until then. They also need to make a decision real soon on Josh Edgin.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I'll try and withhold judgement here, but Ty Kelly smells vaguely Soupy to me.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Thought I saw the Mets were considerind DeAza to be "trained" at 1B
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I would think Kelly would be around just for the Nats series until Flores is activated from the DL for LA this weekend. But who would get bumped from the 40-man to make room for Kelly?OE: I guess Herrera may be the best option since ihe is already on the 40-man.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 LD to DL (stress fracture lower back; at least 4 to 6 weeks expected) and Kelly up for sure. Dario Alvarez off the 40 to make room.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Man, oh, man.Can Flores/Campbell/Kelly help keep 1B afloat for 4-6 weeks? Big time worries with d'Arnaud already out indefinitely and Wright not right.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 As long as it's not [u:12wcx1sl]R[/u:12wcx1sl] Kelly I suppose we're all right.Ty Kelly: SW/R; 6' 0", 180 lbs27 y/o (28 in July) from Stockton, CA by way of UC DavisDrafted 13th round, Baltimore Orioles 2009Been in the orgs of Balt, Sea, StL, Toronto and now the Mets including parts of five different seasons at AAACareer AAA stats = .280/.382/.382 w/24 HRs across 1,175 ABsHas started just 3 games at 1B (all this week?) in 8 seasons. Mostly 2B & 3B with assorted OF time as well.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I'd think a broken back will take more than 4-6 weeks to heal.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Flores will be more or less fulltime 1B upon his imminent return.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Another back stress fracture? WTF?! Wright got the same injury, supposedly making a diving tag. This is horrible news.

It can be maddening to fans when it doesn't work, and it doesn't often enough, but Alderson seemingly will be damned before he's going to make a deal he doesn't like with a gun to his head.Hey, Sandy, the Reds are going nowhere! Eric Goeddel for Joey Votto! Do it now, Sandy!

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 My interest in Jonathan Lucroy was high with d'Arnaud being out, but it has skyrocketed now. He has experience at first and wants to be dealt to a contender.I think he still has another year on his current deal in Milwaukee and I'm guessing he would cost more than unknown talent in return.I'm with Edgy that we have some internal options to try and it's way to early to get desperate (especially if Duda and d'Arnaud are full strength by the break), but if I'm Sandy, I'm at least finding out what the Brewers would be interested in should push come to shove down the line.

Maybe.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 4-6 weeks is not terrible. Even 8 weeks brings him back in time for August/September.I think someone can fake it until then.Really wish they had gone with Dilson Herrera though.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 But it's the back, and swinging a bat is not easy on a healing back. Swinging a bat like Duda swings a bat just makes me wince just thinking about it.
