Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I have to admit, after goofin' on Z about it, I love it and use it too. It's the little things in life haha.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Two-week warning: All games played through yesterday, April 17, will be closing in two weeks, on or about May 2. I'll post another reminder as the day draws closer. If you've been taking advantage of the longer window for voting and have some catching up to do, please be sure to do so in the next couple of weeks.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 Voters who have voted in five or more games:[list:13xm8cje]TransMonk 11Benjamin Grimm 11TMF 11Zvon 10G-Fafif 9OhSheaCanKC 986Dreamer 8A Boy Named Seo 8vic sage 8Ashie62 8Johnny 7Fman99 6[/list:u:13xm8cje]Frequent voters will be automatically enrolled in our Schaefer Loyalty Program, which will make you eligible to win valuable prizes, including AM Crunchwraps!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 "Johnny" has also voted under several other handles and I think is 11-for-11 this year.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 If you want me to update the name on your earlier votes I can do that. (Just let me know which names you used on which games.) Because all this stuff is stored in a database now I'll be able to post end-of-season totals for each individual.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Please don;t do any extra work on my account!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Crunchwraps may be a disincentive for voting
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I'm trying to get my Schaefer groove back on for 2016 after not participating for a couple of years. I'm still looking to only vote in games I see with my eyeballs (which is hopefully mostly all of them).I'm digging the new system for sure.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 TransMonk wrote:I'm digging the new system for sure.Glad to hear it! I actually thought the new method would discourage participation, because of the delay between when the game ends and when you can vote, and because there are no longer Schaefer threads floating around the forum to server as reminders. But so far that hasn't at all proven to be the case.

Great work Grimm.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 I'm trying to update my spreadsheet to more automatically cull data from the box scores, and working out the kinks is taking a bit more time than I would like. but it's getting there, and should allow me to start participating more shortly. I'm also tightening some of the knobs on the 'bot. he was using the wrong denominator in the first game, resulting in teensy tiny votes. silly robot.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I doled out 9 points in last night's (04/20) loss. I think that's the mostSchaefer I've ever poured in a loss after all these beers now. Should this be in the Apropos of Schaefer Nothing thread?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 So far, this experiment seems to be working.Last year, the average number of votes per game hit an all-time low of 6.9753. As we can see, each season (with the exception of 2011) had a lower average than the preceding season. 2016, however, is currently on pace to have our best participation ever.[list:1jpwaj73]2006 13.19142007 12.59882008 10.80252009 10.30862010 9.14202011 10.37042012 8.06172013 7.90742014 7.31482015 6.97532016 13.2142[/list:u:1jpwaj73]The flip side of this, though, is that April is typically higher than the season average. I think that some voters stop voting once they miss a game or two and realize that they won't have a perfect voting record. Of course, that's not necessary. Infrequent voters are as welcome as the regulars. Here are the April averages since 2006:[list:1jpwaj73]2006 21.29172007 14.50002008 13.40002009 16.66672010 12.56522011 12.29632012 11.56522013 11.36002014 9.56002015 9.73912016 13.2142[/list:u:1jpwaj73]While this isn't shaping up to be our best April ever, it's looking like it has a chance to be the best April in the last seven years. Thanks to everyone who's been playing along!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Author Posted April 26, 2016 Voting for all games played between April 3 and April 17 will close next Tuesday morning, May 3, some time after 7 a.m.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 The reason that the voting form asks for your name is so that you don't vote twice. So please, don't vote twice for the same game!I'm going to have some data fixing to do, but I'll do it tomorrow morning.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Did I just do that? I was more behind than I thought, need to catch up.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 It's okay. I was able to fix it, but please be sure to check that you haven't already voted before voting again. Thanks! Also, since I'm here in this thread, I'll post another reminder that all games played through April 17 will be closing on Tuesday morning, May 3.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Someday, the UMDB will be a registration site, and we'll have to log in to vote Schaeffer or leave our dumb memories. But courageous Ben is working overtime to make sure that day isn't upon us just yet, doing all the policing and cleaning up that robots do at registration sites.Ben Grimm, protecting us all from robots.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 Not entirely, I'm afraid. Keep an eye out for one of the future Schaefer announcement graphics.
