8-5 is your final. 8-5 was your final last night. Both soul-crushing types of losses.

Remind me, what was the final score of game 7 in 1986?

I can live with a Cards win, especially THIS one.
(yeah, I'm still up, too)

I'm sorry, but I just can't root for the Cardinals.

See, I don't understand this. Of course you can. The Mets need the Cards to beat the Nats. It's as simple as that. Where are your priorities?

The Cardinals are evil and they always fucking win and nothing good comes of rooting for them. I have nothing against the Nats other than they're in the same division. I have a deep-seated loathing for the Cardinals.

lol. Everyone should have their own evil team so I guess I do understand. Mine happens to be the Phils. I don't think I can say loath, or anything deep-seated, just from suffering Phils Nation down here in NJ.

So the Nats don't pick up anything after this nightmare of a game. HA! Thats team suckage!

A loss when you're chasing first and time is running out? Well, that stings.

A possible win that you lost via errors or bullen leakage, when you're in the same situation? It knocks the mental wind out of you.

You know what's funny... I was thinking about 1986 watching the game the other night where the Sox scored two in the top of the tenth to make it 5-3. I thought, "hey, this looks familiar." (Then they scored a sixth run and my whole plan went to crap.)

Just heard that Harper left the game because his ass hurt.

I heard because he was an asshat.

Nats retake the lead, 4-3, and they might not be done. Escobar trying hard to get tossed but he can't, he sucks.

4-3
Bad guys.
The Cards had three runs on 16 hits!!
That's not the Cards we have come to know over the years.
Yech!

Terry apparently told Niese that his start against the Nationals is the biggest game of his life.

I guess Terry forgot that Niese pitched during the final week of the 2008 season against the Cubs (I'd like to forget that game - the Jason Marquis grand slam, in particular - as well) but his description is close enough for me.

The Braves are comically bad at this point. But no better time to snap out of their 8-losses in a row, 15-out-of-16 funk than with a set of four in the nation's capital.
