stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 It took until regular season game 8,020.Kind of adds to everything that the Hall of Fame logos were on the grass of the basepaths.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 As the commercials say, prohibition is over.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Also awesome: Gary on the edge of tears in the booth.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 So my next question is, does this reverse the curse of Yadier Bleepin' Molina?
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 I gathered the whole family in the room to watch the final outs!!! WONDERFUL!!!
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Thanks, Terry (not that there was any alternative). Give Johan an extra day if he needs it.Was slightly bothered by the jerk off in the Carter jersey who jumped on the field but he was promptly tackled between home and the mound.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 So glad that it happened at Citi, too!
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 San Diego wins the "last franchise standing" without a no-hitter contest. Go to the loser's window and collect your prize, Padres fans!
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Little Solo kept telling his mom to stop talking and asking questions so she wouldn't jinx it. I've never been prouder of my kid talking back to my wife.

Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 If I couldn't be at Citi, I'm glad I was here.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 the trees and thunderstorms were definitely conspiring to keep me from watching this game. the 2nd out of the inning, the sat signal dropped out with the pitch and all i heard was the crack of the bat. it came back to let me see nieuwenhuis racing to field hte ball.the final out, it dropped out on the windup. nothing. then crowd noise. then arms raised.then there was a lot of silent hopping up and down in my basement. i was right below minimm's bedroom, and he'd just gotten to sleep. he'd done his part today, wearing a mets shirt to day care.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 Wow. If you were wondering: yes, Citi Field can get loud.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Why yes, now that you mention it, this does call for a vodka.

The thought that at any big moment, I was sure the place was going to collapse. I can only imagine how much Shea would have been wobbling tonight.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 One oddity is that this game didn't have the feel of even an early in-progress no-hitter because of all those early walks and deep counts.I was aware that the Mets were hitless before I was aware that the Cards still were too.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Understatement of the year from Mrs. Solo: "they'll probably show this as a Mets classic."
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Santana now speaking in Spanish about velocity, movement, good things, and hard work. That's about all I could pick up.
