Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I was visiting my brother in Cleveland last weekend and we went to a Champs outlet that sold excess t-shirts and jerseys from out-of-town teams at deep markdowns. They had a slew of Santana t-shirts - the kind that are ridiculously expensive at CF - for $4. I passed it up because I generally don't wear gear related to specific players. I'm giving myself a good kick right now.Other Metly $4 shirts included Wright and Bay. I'll take that as a good omen for those guys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Walking around town today I've never seen so many people wearing Mets gear in years.*LikeNo one hoped for much from JohanYeah, they all said that he was throughOperation on his shoulderAnd he's suddenly good as new!All you Mets fans, show your faces! All you people in the streets! All you hard luck sad sack cases! The Mets are gonna call on you!
Met Hunter Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Listened to Howie and Josh talk about the number parallels and try to imply that our late great catcher Gary Carter provided some divine intervention. Mets had 8 runs, 8 hits. Add up the pitch count 1+3+4=8. Johan is #57, Gary 57 when he passed. Then it dawned on me that somebody wearing a Carter tshirt was celebrating with the Mets after the win. And to think security pummeled him.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I wore my Mets hat around Boston today and five different strangers acknowledged me and said things like "Hey, Mets fan!" and "No-hitter!" It felt good.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Nice system. We have a Polish neighbor who reminds you now and again why they make Polish jokes. This morning I saw him on the block and he was all abuzz with the Mets news but asked if it was a perfect game or a no-hitter and I explained the difference. "So they've never had a no-hitter ... or a perfect game?"

"So they've never had a no-hitter ... or a perfect game?"How many Mets does it take to throw a no-hitter?Two: One to hold the light bulb, the other to crash into the wall to make sure it doesn't fall out.

The only guys wearing MFY emblems were gangbangers.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Just grasped what an innocent thread title this was in that Gwreck somehow lacked the prescience to declare "No-Hitter" in advance.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I've been wearing my Mets gear around town all weekend (I usually do anyway), and I've had three stranger Twins fans stop and talk to me about the no-no by Johan.Brewers fans seem oblivious.
