Big Pelf his bad self opposes Carlos Zambrano in Game 2 of the homestand that saved the Mets season, Jerry's job and our happiness.

Mets do pretty good against the temperamental Latino?

K-Rod is getting in to the game tonight no matter what........he's probably warming up right now.

Ike Davis taught me how to make love to a woman and how to scold a child.

Ike Davis once showed me a video of him making love to my wife, and it was the most beautiful thing I ever saw!

(OK these are Bill Brasky quotes, I don't care.)

Zambrano is 1-1 with a 9.45 ERA. 3 runs over 5innings his last start, so he's not quite rounded (haha) into form yet. Little patience, some good swings, get an early lead and into the bullpen.

I will help you if I must,
I will kill you if I can.
And mercy on our uniform,
Man of peace or man of war,
The peacock spreads his fan.

Ike Davis is a hard man to love... but an easy woman.*

*If it sounds like a Brasky, and reads like a Brasky, but it isn't a Brasky, is it more or less a Brasky?

Ike Davis is more powerful than the Jake-Monster.

Ike Davis can hit water falling out of a boat[/quote:27i95pnx]

When Ike Davis falls out of a boat, he doesn't get wet. The ocean gets Ike Davis.

I'm reminded of something that Bill Gallo (a Cardinals fan) said in a cartoon back around 1985, regarding Ozzie Smith:

"Ozzie Davis is here to save us."

I have to admit that I didn't catch that mistake until someone mentioned it in "Voice of the People" a few days later. Then I had one of those "DOH!" moments.

Anyway...

Ike Davis
Is here to save us.

Just settled into my seat in the Promenade, and if the game is better than the fried bologna sandwich I just got from Blue Smoke, it will be a classick.

I liked the wings.

The bologna's good, though?

A burger-sized slab, cooked through so it's crisp outside and warm inside, with their delicious bbq sauce and pickles on the same bun as the pulled pork. It's all I can do to not go back for another, especially with the new location up here.

Meanwhile, Jose, Jose Jose Jose Jose, Jose Jose. And Pelf with some leg. It was hard to tell live, but I think they get Reyes at third if they go there, and he may have been out before Pelfrey crossed the plate. Or I could be nuts, but that's how it looked to us.

Jose Reyes hitting again makes the sun shine brighter. It makes the grass greener and the French rightfielder Frencher.

God's in His Heaven and all's right with the world.

Derek Lee popping out. That's good.

Aramis Ramirez popping out. That's good.

Marlon Byrd grounds out. That's good.

Through four innings and Mike Pelfrey is throwing... real good!

I like watching this kid play 1B. Seems like he knows what the hell he's doing over there.

Yes, Reyes woulda been dead meat had they elected to make that play.

Nice play by Henry Blanco there to nail the runner. He also had his first Met hit tonight.

Sight of the night - a kid in a jersey with number 420 on the back had a foul ball go right through his hands. Blurred vision, perhaps?

Number 420 or 42?
