Pick The Most Memorable Game of the Noughties

I know, the 2000s are so last decade, but I've been requested by the vacationing Metirish, to complete the survey. So here are the Top 10 from the Top 25 poll.

1) - Mets clinch NL East - Various Mets parade around with booze and cigars - 09/18/2006

2) - Santana's gem from 2008 that temporarily saved the season (actually put off the inevitable) - 09/27/2008

3) - Marlon Anderson's inside-the-park homer - as remembered on the UMDB.....lets not forget Floyd

1 out in the bottom of the 9th at Shea and the Angels have electric Francisco Rodriguez closing. Anderson, pinch hitting, drives one just shy of the track in right center, with RF Vladimir Guerrero running towards center and CF Steve Finley sliding while running toward RF to make the catch; he can't and it bounces off his leg and rolls into a vacant RF; he gets up and tracks the ball down, all the while Anderson is busting it around the basepaths, and despite a perfect relay throw, Anderson just beats the throw home to tie the game at 2. His face slammed into the catcher; he's there laying in pain, but when he gets up, oh what an ovation. And the capper: Cliff Floyd hit a 3-run walkoff homer in the 10th. - 06/11/2005

4) - - Game 4 of the 2000 NLCS, 10/15/2000 - Mets are down 2 and rally big for the win

7) - Endy Chavez - "The Catch" - Game 7, 2006 NLCS - 10/19/06

8) - Benny Agbayani's game-winning homer in the 2000 NLDS.- 10/07/2000

9) - Piazza in the first baseball game played in New York after September 11. - 09/21/2001

10) - Mets score 10 runs in the 8th to beat Atlanta 11-8 - 06/30/2000

The first game in NYC after Sept. 11th packed an emotional wallop so I voted for that but my runner up is the Bobby Jones 1-hitter for pure baseball accomplishment.

Picked the one game from this list that I attended, the Johan game #161 (choice 2). Most memorable to me because I was there to experience it.

I voted the Piazza game. Mets and Braves, sadness and happiness, crying and cheering. Not a game that meant anything, but a game that meant a lot. Unforgettable.

Great list. I voted the Piazza 9/11 game.....could have gone with the big comeback against the Braves....really they are all great though.

To make this as difficult a choice as it deserves to be:

You gotta vote for the clinching of the N.L. East, a singular Met event in the 2000s. Such an eruption of exultation at Shea, 18 years in the making. What a wonderful night.

You gotta vote for Johan's gem. Such a clutch performance at such a clutch time, one great player doing all he can to ward off a franchise's demons in its ballparks dying days. What a wonderful day.

You gotta vote for the Marlon Anderson game. How excellent and improbable the whole evening was, and what a breath-holding play the game turned on from such an unlikely source. What a wonderful night.

You gotta vote for Game Four of the 2000 NLCS. All those doubles. It was like an attack on St. Louis. Shea set a record for shaking that night. No way we would be denied the flag. What a wonderful night.

You gotta vote for the winning of the pennant in 2000. It's the only pennant won, and it was won in such dominant fashion in every phase of the game. We were elevated as we hadn't been elevated in 14 years. What a wonderful night.

You gotta vote for Bobby Jones' 1-hitter. Bob Murphy himself called it the greatest pitching performance the Mets ever had. Homegrown Met who had struggled so was never better. And he clinched an NLDS. What a wonderul day and night.

You gotta vote for the Endy catch. The mere fact that it transcends the final outcome of that game and series, how it remains iconic for catch made over the wall...and how you felt when he caught it. What a wonderful moment.

You gotta vote for the Benny homer. Talk about perseverance, his and ours. We grew colder, he set us all aflame. We showed the Giants what for with that swing, that we would not be denied. Such love in the Upper Deck. What a wonderful day and night.

You gotta vote for Piazza in September 2001. Meant so much to so many. Speaks to baseball's power to distract and maybe heal just a little. Speaks to Mike's power, too. What a wonderful night.

You gotta vote for the ten-run inning. Everything was perfect: a huge comeback against our bitter rivals, our biggest players, Alfonzo and Piazza, driving in five runs after Brave pitching walked in so many others...redemption! And fireworks! What a wonderful night.

None of these are bad choices.

I voted for the ten-run-inning... for now. I remember listening to the game on the radio while away at summer camp, I'll never forget it.

It's funny though, I don't find the NL East-clinching game memorable at all, only Lastings Milledge afterwards.
