I hope clicking on this thread doesn't turn me into a pillar of salt.

Then you shouldn't have looked. If you do though, I'm coming over to scoop up a couple a pounds. We're running low on salt over here.

Did you ever vote in your Madchester poll?

Only because you asked a question am I posting here....yes I did.

When your magic number equals the number of games you have left to play, there's really no point in keeping track of it.

The way things stand right now, to guarantee a division championship with out help from anyone, they need to go 32-3 the rest of the way. Hardly magical.

There's still loads of baseball to be played, and I'm looking forward to it. If we're up by more than 7 games with less than 17 to play, I'll be much more excited.

Was it Rogers who derailed the season by starting the magic number countdown last Independence Day?

If you're following this thread, you would see that I'm counting up, not down.

I'll take the blame for that.

But in my defense, the Mets were up. Heck, there was a Kevin Kiernan Post column right around this time that declared the division over because of how the Mets handled the Dodgers during a weekend series.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Well, CLEARLY being 1 and a half up on August 21st is not the time to start playing games with Baseball Karma!

It's not like we could blow that lead...

Don't see that jersey-over-windbreaker look too often anymore.

Jon Matlack's uniform # was the same as the uniform # of this guy below.

Sandy Koufax and Fred Wilpon were high school teammates on the Lafayette HS baseball team. Koufax was also a former Met advisor/spring training coach.
