A Red Sox championship would certainly spite the MFY crowd, just another Red Sox ring on the back of those pathetic/obnoxious "got rings?" shirts would make the obnoxious that much more pathetic. But have to go with National League pride and potential history in the making for the 7-0, 21-1 Colorado Rockies. It's time to get off TBS and meet America.

I almost always pull for the National League team in the World Series. This year will be no different as I will be pulling for the surprising, underdog Rockies.

This is one of those Series where I won't be upset with the outcome no matter which team prevails.

It's a win/win as far as I'm concerned, so I'm hoping for a long, exciting series.

But I'll likely pull for Colorado just to give things a fresh blood / National League / small payroll angle.

I'd not be upset no matter who wins, Joe Torre thankfully has turned down an invitation to join Buck and McCarver in the booth. I'd hope they will keep it a two man booth.

For some reason, i remember Torre's brief announcing career between managerial gigs. It was with the Angels, I think, but how would I have caught an Angels game?

Anyhow, he seemed pretty awkward. Engaging isn't a word often used for the guy.

I voted Rockies but I don't have a strong preference either way.

I don't give a rats ass about one league over the other. I used to prefer the National League because that's the league the Mets play in, but I abandoned that a long time ago. (I first rooted for the AL team in the World Series in 1993, and did so again in 1997, 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006.)

Yeah, well, it won't be as bad as the looks on OUR faces as we fell apart in the second half of September.

It'll take a lot of doing for any team to out-misery the Mets in 2007.

He was with the Angels but I think he must have also done the odd network game now & then because I remember him too, or at least enough to remember that he had done some announcing but not really enough to have an opinion on whether I thought he was any good.
He generally handles the press and things like Q&As very well, although that doesn't necc translate into booth work.

It's fine with me if he skips this WS if for no other reason than I generally prefer 2-man booths to 3-man, and that he'd be just another "name" guy brought in strictly for his name who knows a whole lot about one team and precious little about the other. I'm sure he'd do his homework and all, but still ...

I remember going to a White Sox-Angels game in Comiskey Park in 1988 and while looking around the stadium I spotted Joe Torre in the broadcast booth.

I never would have guessed at that time that his future contained more glory than his past.

Ditto here. I'd root for the NL even if it was the Phillies or Cardinals or Cubs or Pirates or Nationals or (our NL East rivals from 69-93) Dodgers (NL team I truely despise on a deeply passionate level) or Astros (sibling rivalry) in the series

other minor issues:

1. i always root national league

2. i almost always root for the smaller payroll roster in non-met games. i feel like it is a more praiseworthy accomplishment to win with less.
