Well, she's clearly described as a paramour.

We have acres of precedent for including non-matrimonial companions.

For instance, David Cone isn't technically married to Yogi Berra, but...

Feliciano's status comes from the 2005 media guide. Ring's from 2004's. I supposed either of them could have changed his status, but it's reliable information and I'm going with it.

Sorry to lose Chiqui before meeting her in person, so to speak.

I've met Chiquis before.

Iriki (who rhymes, in his own funky reggae way, with Chiqui) has now shot to the top of the list of most wanted status.

My "daughter-in-law" is gone before I ever got to see her smiling face.

I believe the Mets took the chance of a waiver claim with Baldiris because he was a man in search of a position with the franchise. He switched from third base to second base last season because of David Wright's shining star at the hot corner. At second base he fell behind Matsui, Keppinger, and Hernandez on the organizations depth chart. Baldiris has been a good OBP guy for most of his time with the organization, but he simply got caught in a numbers game.

The team needs all the bullpen arms it can get for the upcoming season, whereas they have a few options for second base in the future. Second base is far from secure (at least in my mind) for next season, but Baldiris obviously wasn't the answer at this time.

Jorge Julio is married to a woman called Tewuy Iriarte. Google image searches came up empty. With a name as unique as Tewuy Iriarte, if an image exists it can be found. Peace out, Anna.

The photo of Mrs. Wagner isn't bad, except, of course, for that intruding forehead.

Who invited that guy?

Well, that's why she's at the bottom of the list. The only problem is that it's outdoors, making her a trifle squinty. It still is professional-quality and beat the indoors shots we had. I'm certain we can live without an upgrade, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

That Sarah Trachsel is one elusive woman. And yet the Wagners go and run into them in Mexico the day after Billy signs. Go figure. Why, indeed, didn't Billy take pictures?

Well, you know me. I'd hold out for one of her wearing a blue Mets cap.

WB11 news was interviewing Mets wives tonight, apparent Xavier Nady has a fiance but i did not catch her name...

Anybody find that WB11 clip online?

Newsday's got it on their site NOW!!! and it features David Wright with Mrs. Padilla, Heilman, and Woodward. Score for Wifey Watch if someone wants to rip it and create some stills.

Check out the mets.com site too for the winter caravan photo gallery (#4).

Kerri Heilman, Nicole Bell, Erin Woodward are all there. Also Gretchen Randolph (does she count?)

Ericka Padilla is also in gallery #8.

I'm not technologically advanced enough to figure out how grab the pictures, it's a Flash slideshow.

WB definetaly had Nady's fiance talking to the camera though, so maybe newsday's is different?

Oh. My. God.

If I knew how to do a screen capture I would. This interview is just brutal on everyone!

Someone has to catch all 3!

Great find. A Wifey Watch Classic.

Mets spin wives' tale

Friday, January 27th, 2006

I wasn't very nice the other day to Anna Benson, aka The Pitcher's Wife, aka Anna, the Queen of I Am, and that miserable mood isn't going away. This time, though, I can blame the Mets, who traded Kris Benson for a sow's ear, and expected Anna to immediately disappear off the face of the Earth, aka sports pages.

Omar Minaya, the Mets GM, is a good man and he probably has valid reasons for making the deal. They may have thought they were paying Kris more than he was worth. Or maybe they were spending too much on Advil to treat the continuing Anna headache.

Anyway, the Mets are in town this week to sell tickets, spread good cheer, sell tickets, hope people forget they spent 78 days in last place last year, and sell tickets. Yesterday, Steve Trachsel was at a firehouse in Maspeth, Jose Reyes went to IS 25 in Queens, Julio Franco was scheduled for the Harlem Village Academy. My idea of a good time was none of those.

I was up at 6 a.m., and on the FDR Drive by 7, because David Wright was appearing on the Ch.11 morning show at 8. Accompanying Wright were three Mets' wives: Kerri Heilman, Ericka Padilla and Erin Woodward. There will be all of spring training and 162 games to chat with Wright, one of the more accommodating talkers in the clubhouse. But it isn't often you get to see players' wives, especially when one particular wife is making it easy for tabloid types to stay on her tail, uh, trail.

How, I wondered, did they feel about reading all Anna, all the time? Seemed harmless enough, but Jay Horwitz, the Mets' PR man, didn't want me anywhere near them. Anna, it turns out, is off limits. So he told the people accompanying the three women to make sure I didn't get to ask my devastating questions.

"There isn't time for this," I was told. "It wasn't scheduled."

I wasn't scheduled, the story of my life. But that was before I introduced myself to the wives - minutes before they went in front of the camera - and let them know I wanted to talk about Anna. They didn't seem to mind. Erin Woodward, like Anna an aspiring actress, said she had no problem with Anna trying to draw attention to herself. That was just before the three women were led to the makeup room. We'd talk later, I said. But there was no later. Horwitz had abolished the First Amendment.

Wright answered all kinds of ridiculous questions on the show. Are you romantic? "I try," he answered, "but I need a Dummies Guide for being Romantic."

How do you meet women? "I have a hard time meeting them. That's why I keep my Mets jersey on."

The questions for the women had a lot to do with how they "keep their spark" with their husbands spending so much time on the road. They said all the right things, which means they did a little tap-dancing.

When they were leaving the studio, I got around to repeating my Anna question to Erin Woodward. "I don't think they want us to get involved," she said. "I have to respect that."

And since Respect is my middle name, I backed off. We were walking to the same elevator that carried us up - the wives, Wright, the people making sure Mr. Horwitz's orders were being followed - when one man in the group told me I had to leave by another exit. He gave me directions. What a guy.

And since he was taller, in better shape, younger, and probably never sent me a flattering E-mail, I followed his directions. Turns out there was no other exit. And by the time I realized that, the Mets' group was nowhere in sight.

Until I got to the lobby of the building. They were still there, waiting for their transportation. I thought about trying to ask my Anna question again but younger-taller-in-better-shape was still on the job.

I will have my revenge: I'm not picking the Mets to win the World Series.

Something about Erin Woodward. I can't get any shots of her with her face any bigger than a dime.

I tried to do some screen captures of Kerri Heilman. I failed to do some screen captures of Kerri Heilman.

I disagree, by the way, Wifey Watch hasn't been about allowing Anna to make herself the story, but doing the work and finding the story. And finding the wifeys.

There's a nice, large, albeit black and white, photo of Erin Woodward in the print edition of the Daily News today. If my scanner was working I'd scan it.

Does anyone with a working scanner has a copy of today's paper?
