Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 13 Posted March 13 This is a surprise, but also kind of how things tend to go with migrations. Our developer said he can get the conversion done tomorrow, which is way ahead of when I expected. So I told him to go ahead and do it, even if I haven't done some of the typical work I have done before launch.Tonight, probably late, I will shut off the forum here. That will allow us to grab the most recent state of the forum, and then migrate it to the new platform. Some time tomorrow - hopefully late morning, but these things sometimes stretch into afternoon and evening - the site will reappear, looking very different.Your current email and password will work on the new site. But, some users don't remember their password, or they lost access to that email, etc. I will be online as much as possible tomorrow to respond to these inquiries.Everything will be chaotic at launch. Icons might be wrong, language might reflect the wrong team (in this case, the Twins, as that's the site code we're using this time around). We'll have a thread to log all this stuff, and I'll play whack-a-mole, fixing small issues as we go.If you have questions, ask 'em.Oh, and the site will launch without ads. Those take weeks to get set up, sometimes as much as a month nowadays.Second edit: Oh, Ed and I spoke about this earlier today. This forum that you're using right here and now will remain intact, and the server untouched. You just won't be able to access it, as we'll be redirecting this domain to GrandCentralMets.com. Ed will maintain control of both this domain, and that server.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 And I'm sorry about the short notice, I really thought I had a week or more to prepare. I hadn't heard much from the dev until he hit me up today and said he's pretty much done.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 13 Posted March 13 So the link to the CPF will automatically take us to the new forum?

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 14 Posted March 14 When we first get there will there be refreshments? I've read elsewhere there will be an omelet station, some freshly prepared breakfast potatoes and bottomless bloody Mary's.

m.e.t.b.o.t. Verified Member Posted March 14 Posted March 14 M.e.t.b.o.t. Is quite curious to find out if multiple user accounts can exist with the same email address, or if m.e.t.b.o.t. Needs to find out if email servers will allow clockwork contraptions to have their own means of communication. ,m.e.t.b.o.t. Is pleased to find that the Grand Central Mets interface is thus far compatible with hastily constructed mechanisms using the parts of several old vcrs and at least one 8-track player, sourced from the dumpster behind a suburban strip mall radio shack. Modern technology is incredible.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Wow guys, good job. Of course there'll be some hiccups, but it's a good start. Oh, and those little raspberry danishes if you've got them....
