metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I like it , but don't like the 7 plopped right there, don't think we need the 7 at all
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I think you should avoid anything that might confuse us with the 7 line.I think the idea was to reference the parkway.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 It works for both. I think of grand central station first, not the parkway. I think we can nod towards both, to be honest. Iconographically the station has the deeper well. You can evoke the big ol’ windows in the grand concourse, or the clock. Or even the departure board. There’s a lot of there there. For the parkway you could draw from the road sign itself for a clean design, with a smaller sign graphic perhaps for exit 9E for citi field.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 As an out of town fan I think of the parkway first, as I negotiate it on each drive to the ballpark (as well as all of the trips to visit my grandparents when I was a kid, as they lived on 141st and 70th Ave in Flushing).
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I think you should avoid anything that might confuse us with the 7 line.I think the idea was to reference the parkway. Yes, no 7's. Especially not blue 7's.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 What's Kranepool to 90% of Mets fans? Nearly two decades as a MetThe Brotherly Brood of Bruce Bochy53 PA as a MetYeah, now we're getting somewhere. I appreciate your distinct ability to discern "tongue-in-cheek" and "not serious."
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 In other words, the Bochy one clearly wasn't a serious suggestion, but you took it as such, which raised eyebrows.(I spelled it out for those who have problems discerning meaning)
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Don't tell me what I took! I joked back and here we are...
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Oh my bad.Now I feel like a real oafish palooka. I'm sorry. With tempers flaring lately it's just so hard to tell!
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Mets Line is pretty generic. Plus it, or anything with a 7 could imply association with Darren Meehan’s travel booking agency/apparel store.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Here's another pass. The lower one is an attempt to replicate the departures board from Grand Central.I like the top one more, much better without the 7.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) Of the three, the first one closer to the top (of this thread) is my preferred choice. Edited March 4 by Cowtipper

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 NOW I think we're into poll territory. I'd be in favor of taking the three logos on this page* and putting them into a poll-arized thread for voting.Stick a time limit on it (end of the week?) and crown the winner.Objections?* OK, the previous page since my post just kicked over the odometer.

I want to do at least one more variant, explore more options. But I'm happy to put it to a poll when we get to that point.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 I think I'd like to see an option with the green and white of the highway signs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Fine by me, the more options the better*.And if we get several more suggestions then maybe two rounds of voting will be needed; first to get down to the two (three?) most popular and then have them face off to determine the winner.* ... as long as none of them are done by me. You've heard of interior designers? Well I'm an inferior designer.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Posted March 5 The blue lettering needs to be more 'Met cap blue' rather than navy.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Posted March 5 This is my new favorite. I favor the green road sign style personally
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I like it and would like to see the Grand Central in an orange or blue
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 I was going for having it look just like a highway sign, with the exception of the Mets script, of course. I even found the font that the highway signs use!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Posted March 5 I would think there are MLB restrictions on using that official logo.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 5 Posted March 5 And I agree with the directional arrow!
