Mets are getting two prospects:

-Bruin Agbayani (Benny’s son),  Shortstop, Twins’ 6th round pick in 2025.  29th ranked prospect in Twins org per MLB.com

-Billy Amick.  3rd Baseman, 2nd round pick in 2024.  21st ranked prospect in Twins org per MLB.com.

Cant expect much more for a guy who is FA in three months time. Amick is closer to the bigs with legit college pedigree.  IMO he could be another option to Vientos/Baty/Mauricio. Bruin is a lottery ticket.

I’m ok enough with this… I reserve the right to change my mind if other similar rental relievers net far better prospects.

but shit I don’t care. We got an agbayani!  Fun!

Baseball America says...

Amick, 23, was the Twins’ second-round pick in 2024 out of Tennessee. He has been parked with Double-A Wichita all season, where he slashed .217/.338/.482 with 23 homers and a 28.5% strikeout rate. As one might expect given that production, Amick hits the ball hard, with a 90th percentile exit velocity creeping toward 107 mph as of late July and steep launch angles. The tradeoff is a worrisome amount of swing-and-miss, especially in the strike zone. Defensively, he has split his time between third and first base this season. Most of his future value will be tied to his bat.

Agbayani, 19, was the 2025 Gatorade Player of the Year in Hawaii before the Twins drafted him out of high school that year in the sixth round. At the time, he ranked as the No. 405 prospect in the draft on the strength of a well-rounded offensive profile and a chance to stick in the infield, albeit without a clear carrying tool. A shoulder injury has limited him to just 10 Low-A games this season. Agbayani is the son of Benny Agbayani, who played parts of four big league seasons with the Mets.

Amick bounced in and out of Twins Daily's top 20 for the past couple of years. He's not a bad prospect at all. This scouting report is a bit old, maybe a year or so.

TWINSDAILY.COM

The Twins selected Amick with the 60th overall in the 2024 amateur draft out of Tennessee, where he hit 23 homers during his junior season. The Volunteers went on to win the College...

Having one Agbayani is better than having none. Let’s see how well they develop these prospects.

I feel like he traded for Benny’s son to distract us from the shitty return.

Anyway. Bruin is only 19. You never know what he might become.

I don't think it's a shitty haul or is underwhemling. What were you expecting?

I just don't think we often get much in these sell offs. It seems like it's more of a media frenzy. You might get a prize like Zach Wheeler once in a while. But Carlos Beltran in his late prime is a heck of a lot different than A.J. Minter.

What the Mets got for Minter may or may not be comparable to what they gave up for Ryan Helsley last year, but it definitely looks like less than what they gave up for Tyler Rogers. And that may be okay; Rogers was probably more highly valued than Minter. I hope for a better return for Raley, who has a better recent track record.

As Stengel said about Greg Goosen, "In ten years he has a chance to be 29".

One thing to note is that the Twins' system is VERY deep right now. They have something like six guys in the top 100 on most lists. What is the 25th prospect on the Twins could easily be 10th in a lesser system.

Yeah, this.  I'm kind of tired of references to pursuing prospects from a teams' "top-ten list," as if one team's #7 is equivalent to another team's.

The team is suddenly packed with lefthanded relief pitching and even if the Mets had their foot on the gas, Minter was not pitching featured innings.

And now we are unMinted.
