Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I wonder if Senga is a 2-3 inning opener with Megill coming in after that for game 1?

This team isn't done with the surprises
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 So you figure if Senga can get stretched out a little in Game 1, he'd be ready for hopefully a normal-ish start if it goes 5. I'm down.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 The Mets beat Nola and Wheeler 12 of the last 15 times they faced those pitchers. For whatever thats worth.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Ballsy move throwing Senga into game 1. Have to assume he goes 3-4 innings at most, so they'll need a guy to hand the baton to. I'm guessing Megill. This could work great or blow up in their faces. But a fascinating twist.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Im just guessing here, obviously, but I think that the Mets have been keeping Senga's progress under wraps, maybe even to the point of being misleading and that they think he's now healthy enough to give them five or six innings. It's a short series and the loser goes home so the value of each individual game is that much more magnified. Given this, I doubt that the Mets would open with a bullpen game. Not now.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 One other thing worth noting about the Senga ketsudan — he may have only thrown 5 1/3 innings this season, but that was 5 1/3 innings of two-run/two-hit/nine-strikeout/one-walk ball against these same Philadelphia Phillies.
