I guess he's the guy they got instead of Michael A. Taylor.

If he bats ninth and plays a decent center field, he might turn out to be a good addition. But as Marshmallow said above, they need to add a big bat, a DH who can give us 30 homers or so.

It's January. I imagine things are really going to start to happen, not only for the Mets but for many other clubs too.

Won a Gold Glove in 2021, prompting the Yankees to trade for him in their ongoing comical quest to move Aaron Judge out of center. His subsequent failures for them have been a gift to mankind.

I associate him as the embodiment of the modern ballplayer — simply elegant in his perfect conditioning, walking away from the plate utterly flummoxed about how this "hitting" activity is supposed to be undertaken.

I'm not sure that's happening. I think we might have to bend our heads around DJ Stewart and Tyrone Taylor opening the season at DH. I think the main focus right now is a starting pitcher.

It looks like their approach on offense (and defense) has been to shore up rather than remodel.

Because Cohen can only afford one of the two, but not both.

Bader has a career .824 OPS against lefties, so that plus his defense makes him a starter on the short side of a platoon and a defensive sub the rest of the time. He has a role. Not sure that makes him worth $10M, but it's one year and I'm still assuming Cohen has money for what he wants to have money for.

I don't think it's about what Steve Cohen can afford. If opening the season with Stewart and Taylor DHing is the route they take, it likely isn't about what Cohen can afford; but more about who's available and what the roster limit and what their strategic process of roster-building can afford.

Had a couple decent seasons for the Cards in '20 & '21.

Maybe he sukked for the Yanquis because they made him cut off most of his blond curls and he'll improve now that he's removed from 1960's prep school rules.

Def a defensive and speed upgrade.

Will turn 30 mid-season.

Another 1-year deal. Another bounce-back candidate who will be off the books in '25 if he has no "bounce".

The Bridges of Queens County will be the hottest blockbuster of summer 2024.

I dunno. Nimmo took a big step forward defensively in 2022 and seemed to take a big step backward last season. So I guess this kind of improves the team. But "get a center field glove" wasn't on my list to Santa this year.

Bader's main value is as a fill in when you need a Yankee and Cardinal for Immaculate Grid and you've already used Carlos Beltran.

If he could give them 41.9 WAR, I'd consider it.

Only if they represent the number in inappropriately small digits.

That's some bad PhotoShoppin'.
