Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 Once again, the dreaded TB logo. At first, I was confused and found myself trying to think of Blue Jays and A's players who had had tuberculosis. The app was a little glitchy today. I got credit for Victor Zambrano as a Ray and a Jay (but you doesn't has to call him Johnson) but instead of seeing his name and a photo, I just got a green box with a little 0.1% in the upper right corner. I had tried guessing Rico Carty for Twins/A's (which would have been wrong, by the way) but his name wasn't available in the lookup list. I thought I had awoken in an alternate universe in which there was never a Rico Carty, a world in which grapefruits taste sweet and penguins can fly.Anyway, seven of nine for me today:Rays/Jays: Victor Zambrano 0.1%Rays/A's: --Rays/All-Star: Evan Longoria 25%Twins/Jays: Jack Morris 6%Twins/A's: --Twins/All-Star: Rod Carew 3%100RBI/Jays: Carlos Delgado 11%100RBI/A's: Reggie Jackson 8%100RBI/All-Star: Darryl Strawberry 0.2% (one of 482 valid answers; this would be a hard one to miss)

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 20, 2023 Posted July 20, 2023 The quest for an immaculate grid continues, as I got my second consecutive 8.Rocky Padre: Jason Marquis 0.4Rocky Cardinal: Nolan Arenado 44Rocky base stealer: Dante Bichette 14Cleveland Padre: Mike Clevinger 24Cleveland Cardinal: Keef 3Cleveland base stealer: Kenny Lofton 40Diamond Padre: Steve Finley 15Diamond Cardinal: Paul Goldschmidt 62Diamond base stealer: For the Diamondback base stealer, I thought about AJ Pollock. I can't not think of him first, as he's both my birthday homeboy and one letter off from being my last name homeboy. But I decided that he never got enough plate appearances to get to 30SB (wrong!) and went with Steve Finley. Finley had several seasons of 30SB, but none in Arizona. It did occur to me after my wrong guess that Finley would fit in the Diamondback/Padre box.Dante Bichette, generally a big slow guy, had this weird season in the late 90s when he stole 32 bases while the rest of MLB was in the midst of a steroid fueled slugfest. I think it was the same season that Brady Anderson hit 50 HRs leading off for the O's.Mike Clevinger famously (around here, anyway) got run out of town and sent to San Diego after he violated COVID protocols.I didn't think Jason Marquis was that obscure.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2023 Posted July 21, 2023 As a native Staten Islander Jason Marquis is not obscure at all!
