Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Well, if the Phillies can score 6 runs late in a game, so can the Mets. But let's not wait that long.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Scherzer craps the bed, historically. Most HR's ever in a post-seasongame ever against a Mets pitcher. #lgm #ygb #ymdyf
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 So, what's everybody reading?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Seventh inning. Time to stretch (my mouth over the running car exhaust pipe)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Canha is making a lot of contact and extending this trip to the plate, but a lot of balls here that he's making contact with.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Second meeting of the inning here.I mean, the coaches didn't show up for the last one, but still.Hey, we don't have Naquin to pinch-hit here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 I think this is actually a book club meeting happening on the mound.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Nido could've struck out on 3 pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Don't be so aggressive, Luis. We need six runs, not two.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 "Man, this Darvish guy works slow!"— Steve Trachsel
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Curse everyone not named Eduardo Escobar.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 They're locked into Canha through 2024 for like $11mil per.Just wanted to wet everyone's blanket a little more before retiring.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 That's some fight in the Mets, 7 pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Álvarez should be catching here. McCann has entered the game just to exit it if his turn at bat comes around.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 I've been watching the past two innings in silence because listening to Karl Ravech is insult to injury.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 No matter who you start on the bump and how he does, scoring only one run on a solo homer is a tough way to get it done.Swinging at the first one down six in the ninth is no way to do anything.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 Canha swings at pitch #1 also.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 The upside is that there's no longer a single elimination game and the Mets get another chance tomorrow. The downside is that deGrom could be even more historically bad.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 7, 2022 Author Posted October 7, 2022 So Álvarez enters for McCann anywutz.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 This has been a real shit end to five months of great baseball.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 It's not the end. We have tomorrow for that. Nah. Fuck that. We're going into November goddamnit. Just gotta make it interesting first.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2022 Posted October 7, 2022 Well, that was about as bad as it could get. I didn't much from the offense, as Darvish has pretty much owned the Mets this season. I was hoping they could scrape together 3 runs and that classic Max would make that stand up. Alas, Darvish once again owned the Mets (other than Escobar) while Max was clearly not himself. The power deficient Padres put on a home run clinic. Jake needs to have his "A game" tomorrow or it will likely be a very disappointing end to the season.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 Well that ate an IKEA bag full of dicks. Was Scherzer pitching hurt and if so, why?Hate to say this, but I have no faith in Jake tonight. Prove me wrong, please.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2022 Posted October 8, 2022 The magic number thread is the cause of all this suckiness

Prove me wrong, please.Mets bats are moribund alsoThe Mets offense really needs to kick in and starting getting the hits with RISP. Too often they have been squandering their opportunities early in the games and letting the opposing pitcher settle in with minimal to know damage. I expected last nights game to be a low scoring affair (I was half right) with Scherzer and Darvish on the mound. Darvish continued his mastery of the Mets last night, while Max just did not have it. The Mets anemic offense last night actually raised Darvish's ERA against them for the season. This was his third start against the Mets season and his overall line against them has been "deGrom-like". In three starts against the Mets he has gone 3-0 with 21 IP, 12 Hits, 2 runs allowed, 19 Ks & 1 walk. Thankfully, the Mets won't have to face him again. They really need to get to Snell early tonight. Even deGrom has a hard time winning if the Mets don't score but 1 run.
