I'd love to see him back, screaming after every ground out, but I suspect that Lindor disagrees and has let Steve know of his feelings. Perhaps he can be part of a deal with OAK to bring back a SP (Frankie Montas is my OAK SP of choice).

I have no interest in seeing him go be good somewhere else. We'll ship

him off to California and he'll Justin Turner us for 6-7 years.

I hope the.Mets don't trade McNeil for Andrew Cuomo. .Marjorie Taylor-Greene is so much better. I'd love to have her on the team. Then, she could find out if Steve Cohen also has space lasers.

For a hitter with a 124 career OPS+ with three years under team control at below-market value, I would expect a starting pitcher with a career ERA+ of 124 (and capable of sustaining it over at least 200 IP a season) with three years under team control at below-market value. Otherwise, why bother?

Yeah, he's 29 (I kinda forgot he must have played four years of college ball)

and won't be a FA until 2025. He's good to have around. Cano might juice again,

Lindor could trip over his pet armadillo and all kinds of stuff.

so, luis castillo then. which is what i would want to get back in return.

alternatively, are there enough at bats to go around if we were to zobrist him? i'm a little concerned about cano, and squirrel is a better cog in that particular type of machine than jd or dom. even if we have the dh next year.

but then, would we be better off with a solid starter than a solid super-ute who backs us up on many positional fronts? the answer is likely yes.

I'm more than a little concerned about Canó.

I don't want to jump to the conclusion that Lindor and McNeil are a hopeless pairing because of one incident, as ugly and ridiculous as it was. Maybe they are, but I don't know. Their argument was about whose job was what during an extreme shift. That's some complicated NFL-level playbook shit on a particular play when everyone was feeling a ton of pressure. Canó, on the other hand, last we saw him, was showing less range on defense than Mr. Met in full costume. His hands were more or less fine, but his legs weren't getting it done.

I imagine he'll get his hits, but I don't see him as a full-timer.

I agree and don't see how he fits. Pretty expensive bench player. Supposedly he was a leader in the clubhouse, but I don't know how much respect is left when you are popped twice for PEDs. Injury risk.
