Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Folks won't like it.Adam Wainwright. Write it down.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 He'd be welcome. We accepted Orel Hershiser, didn't we?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 I'd take Wainwright in a heartbeat, but I don't think the Cards would do it and I think he'd rather retire than leave St Louis.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 I have been to the future. From my perspective, it's already happened.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 So how did the trade work out? Who did we give up? Did the Mets win the division?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Author Posted July 23, 2021 Wainwright to me seems like a dude the Braves would get. I already think he's a Brave in fact
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 "Ageless."No, he's almost my age. That's definitely "an" age.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 Ageless, timeless. Lace and fineness.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 That's agelessly quite a few years older than his pitching coach.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2021 Posted July 23, 2021 The official position is that Adam Wainwright lacked Hill's "seasoning."The Mets seem to like dealing with the Rays these days.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Uh, Scherzer got scratched today... hmmm.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2021 Posted July 25, 2021 ESPN reporting Adam Frazier to the Padres.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 An ex-Met for an ex-Met... and a quality reliever is traded within the division.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 The Mariners are only a game out of a wildcard, Toro is replacement level, and Smith is not exactly a prospect. Why?

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Marte is somebody the Mets looked at for a while, so naturally he's now having a career year. Luzardo is a once-elite prospect who's had trouble logging in innings (granted last year was not his fault) and has not looked ready for the show this year. I think it's a great low-risk, high-upside gamble for the Marlins, but it may work out well for the A's too.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 Joey Gallo going to the Yankees. In better news, apparently Max Scherzer will not waive his 10/5 rights for a trade to the Bronx. Seems like there was a time not long ago when all the top stars wanted to be traded to the Yankees and then had those gross press conferences where they talked about this being their best chance to win a championship. I'm glad those days are over.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Gallo might just hit 80 homers at YS3 the rest of the year with that short porch. (Of course, he'll also strike out 150 times.)
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Blue Jays get a grip on Brad Hand, dispatching catcher Riley Adams to the Nationals in exchange.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 I'm pretty sure that Hand was almost a Met twice--Sandy said that he would have gotten him from CLE if Cohen took over sooner and then the Mets offered him a contract to be a set-up man but he wanted a one-year deal as a closer so he could return to FA as more than a set-up man (how's that worked out so far?). If the Mets had Hand would they have signed Loup?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Relief pitching is a crap shoot, and the Mets have learned the hard way that aiming high doesn't make it any less of one. The Loup signing looks great right now. The May signing looks kind of meh though. Hand wouldn't have been worth it.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Realmuto or Springer though..
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 Rizzo and Gallo to the Yankees? someone check George Steinbrenner's pulse, is he still alive?
