According to multiple reports tonight, the three-time Cy Young award-winner and the Nats' starting shortstop are both being dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a prospect package that includes catcher Keibert Ruiz and right-hander Josiah Gray, the top player and pitcher in the Dodgers' organization, and “two mid-range prospects” as the Athletic's Ken Rosenthal described them.

If the season ended today, the Dodgers would be playing in the one-and-done Wild Card game. So they're upping the odds that they'll have an ace starting pitcher for that game if that scenario plays out, among other things.

That would be a Holy Guacamole situation.

I figured Seagar was due back shortly. Is the idea to use Turner at short for a few days and then move him to second?

If we had a preference, Scherzer would become a Padre as the Mets are done with SD but have 7 games in August with LA.

Schwarber to the Red Sox, Hudson to the Padres, Nationals to the drawing board.

Some of the players that we might hear about today:

MIN: Berrios (SD might go for him to try and counter the Scherzer deal)

CHC: Baez, Bryant, Hendricks, Davies, Kimbrel

COL: Story, Jon Gray (per Wikipedia: "Since he was 10 years old, Gray has been interested in ghosts and he uses equipment for ghost hunting in hotels.")

TEX: K. Gibson

Someone's going to overpay for Berrios today. The question is whether it's us or the Padres.

Atlanta gets Eddie Rosario and Adam Duvall in separate deals.

Alderson...fell asleep?

Norris was that guy who was living in a van down by the river or something when he first came up, right? Toronto or Arizona or something.

"Mets Stand Pat (do bupkis) at Trade Deadline, Hoping Not to Surrender

First Place in the Standings in Coming Weeks

I saw some tweet this morning stating that this was the 4th time that the Mets were in first in the division on the morning of the deadline by 3.5+ games. 1986, 1988 and 2006 were the previous years (all first place finishes). I haven't fact checked, but it seems right.

How can they not find pieces to push through the finish line if that is the case?

Curious to me that the White Sox are adding multiple reinforcements and Milwaukee has not (yet), given they have nearly the same record and division lead.

If I'm Milwaukee...I'd covet Kris Bryant.

Kind of fascinated to see who's left to take the field for the Red Wings tonight, considering the Nats have dealt pretty much the entire major league roster.
