A comedy friend retweeted a question and the topic has been a hit on Twitter. I will repurpose it for us:

"You're on a first date with someone, and they tell you the name of their favorite BASEBALL book. You immediately leave. What's the book?"

I'll start: "The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter".

Honestly, Your Honor, I'm not an axe murderer. But when she told me her favorite baseball book was Dynasty - by Peter Golenbach , about the MFYs, I don't know what came over me.

Judge - Justifiable homicide. You're free to go.

Having had few dates in my life, leaving one would be hard to do but maybe something like

‘How the Atlanta Braves Ruled the 90s' would encourage me to ask to be taken home

Unless he was real cute

If we're using real titles, “A Tale of Three Cities” by Steven Travers. Fucking awful.

I'm delighted to find women who actually understand baseball no matter what they read. Going to a game with a clueless woman (or men, which God help me, has happened to me) is hell on earth. The last baseball book I read was Fairly at Bat: My 50 years in baseball, from the batter's box to the broadcast booth, so if she's read that one, I'm happy to discuss. I doubt I'd walk out on a woman who reads baseball books no matter how egregious they are. At least she's trying.

As long as it's not a nudie book starring Suzyn Waldman I'm probably fine with whatever.
