G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Off to the Rockies for the middle verse of a Dave Loggins special.https://youtu.be/Gqy4mYkY_Lkhttps://youtu.be/Gqy4mYkY_LkCold, wet and white will describe the Coors Field atmosphere as well as many Mets.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Author Posted April 15, 2021 Jake slated to pitch Friday, Lucchesi Saturday, Stroman Sunday.Weather permitting.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 deGrom and Stroman and two days of snow, man!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Mike Vaccaro says the Mets shouldn't send deGrom to the mound tonight. He invokes the memory of Tim Leary (the pitcher) but I'm recalling a game where Jon Niese pitched in the cold Denver weather and he paid a price for it. (Does anyone else remember that?)Anyway: https://nypost.com/2021/04/15/mets-should-push-back-jacob-degrom-start-vs-rockies/Mets should heed Denver forecast for Jacob deGrom's sakeNational Weather Service wrote:Widespread light snow showers will continue for much of themorning with an additional inch of snow possible by midday. Theurban corridor and plains will see many dry hours during theafternoon although a few isolated snow showers may redevelop.Across the mountains, snow showers will increase in coverage andintensity during the afternoon with the highest additionalsnowfall amounts of between 2 to 6 inches along the mountains ofeastern Summit and western Park counties.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Good weather for watching the game (on television).
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 Niese pitched consecutive starts in Minneapolis and Denver in April 2013, both in frigid conditions. He missed time later that year, but I don't remember a connection.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 I'm not a "Schedule Maker" but it seems logical not to have teams that play in other divisions travel to Colorado in April, not because it's so darn cold but there could be two or three postponements this weekend and that creates (further) havoc on the schedule. Yes, it can snow in New York in April but it's far less likely.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 It would be even more logical (and, admittedly, a lot more expensive) to have a retractable roof on a stadium that's built in Denver.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Not scheduling night games on Saturdays in April would be an idea they might want to consider.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Emptying an overstocked holiday fridge in the spring sounds like a great topic for ceetar's pottycast.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 it might be 27 degrees tonight in Denver.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Was it finally determined that Paul Wilson hurt his arm by pitching in very cold weather?Later

I've got an overstocked (holiday) fridge too, my problem is that I always end up buying MORE beer when I have people over (or did) because i'm excited to try new things and use it as an excuse. It's a successful party when more beer is consumed than purchase. Most of my friends have stopped bringing beer for this reason.I was also looking forward to zoning out tonight and watching some baseball, mostly uninterrupted except to refill my glass. Wish they could've flexed to this afternoon at least, once they saw the forecast starting to shape up thisway.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 Dave Loggins wasn't kidding.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Probably for the best. Also, four fewer innings we'll need from the bullpen.
