Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 2 CYs in a row for the slender righthander. Can he make it 3? Why or why not? What's your 2020 vision for JdG?
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Gets a little more run support, finishes in top-three for the Cy voting. Takes a no-hitter into the eighth inning in a late-April game, gets pulled because of the pitch count, reliever gives up a hit to first batter. Twitter explodes, but columnists praise Rojas.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 You've got to be damn good and damn lucky to win a Cy Young award, let alone two in a row. In short, so much has to go your way. Of course, deGrom, over the last two seasons combined, was about the unluckiest pitcher in the history of the world. So who the hell knows?

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Yankees are too cheap for that.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Does what he does. He'll have another great year, but somebody else will have a better year for the Cy. 17-8, 2.60 and finally gets a little run support.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2020 Posted March 4, 2020 Cy Young #3. Repeat of last two years - middling record, 14-9, something like that, but ERA around 1.90 and tons of K's.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Why can't a pitcher be MVP and win 3rd Cy in a row?No reason, but it will be debated come November at length.
