G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Pest Charlie Culberson re-signing with ATL on a minor league deal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 I was misreading and thinking Hamels somehow signed on a minor league deal. No huh-way.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2019 Author Posted December 15, 2019 We hate Charlie Culberson, too, but he didn't have the marquee value to carry the thread title.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 SunTrust Park is now Truist Park, which may or may not inspire a line of I'M STILL CALLING IT SUNTRUST t-shirts from Uni-Watch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 So SunTrust, a large bank with a major presence in that area, are out after just a THREE YEAR sponsorship of a brand new stadium?!?!?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 So what's their new slogan going to be?: Same bank you've known for years ... only now with a much shittier corporate moniker!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 Braves sign formerly Felix Hernandez to a minor league contract.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 He might hit another Grand Slam against the Mets.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2020 Author Posted January 21, 2020 Marcell Ozuna signs 1 year deal with this miserable franchise.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 This... is unfortunate. I'm hoping this isn't chased with an Arenado trade.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Ozuna is one of those guys who doesn't seem "for real" to me.Arenado should be on the Mets
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I expect Ozuna to be a giant pain in the ass for us all year. Basically, taking that role over from Josh Donaldson who went elsewhere.

If the Mets could afford Arenado, they would have been in on Rendon, who would have cost just money.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 I guess so, but the Mets are funny.McNeil, Smith and Matz. Let's do it
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 That Arenado honeymoon in Denver sure didn't last long. He's claiming the team made promises to spend elsewhere after they spent on him.But now the team seems to be gun-shy about throwing big buxx around after their strong pitching of 2018 turned south on them in 2019, so maybe they're not as close as they thought a year ago.So they've at least talked about trading N.A. just one year into a L-T contract (although he can opt-out after '21) and he's not only not happy about it but hasn't been shy about saying so publicly.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 This site, which I've never heard of, says that the Mets and Rockies are talking:https://primetimesportstalk.com/2020/01/23/schwartz-mets-rumors-and-notes/https://primetimesportstalk.com/2020/01/23/schwartz-mets-rumors-and-notes/COL wants a catcher and they like Nimmo (who doesn't?) who is from that part of the country. I'm fantasizing about a lineup with Marte in CF and Arenado at 3B.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Starling Marte is Brandon Nimmo, just older and worse. I don't want him anywhere near this team.Arenado, on the other hand...
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 Maybe they'd take Cano in return.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 Yonder Alonso has signed minor league deal with Braves.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 I'm curious what name the Braves might change their name to so that I may hate them.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 I would suggest the Georgia Peaches, but that would look like it was honoring Ty Cobb.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 I HATE the Georgia Peaches.Gosh, that was easy.
