Glad not to have to endure an MFY-Nats WS. Because I would not have.

I mean, we swallowed '09, and MFYs-GDPhils was much more straining on the constitution. But I'm still GDglad we didn't have ta.

1996 is still the World Series i hate most

Not just a great catch [brantley: above] but also how quickly he got up and the speed/accuracy of the throw he got off - although Buck & Smoltz let Judge off the hook a bit for his running.

It's a tough situation for a runner (and they didn't show the best angle until several replays into the next inning) but he went too far towards 2nd. He's not getting to 3rd even if Brantley

short-hops that ball and if it gets by him he's running forever no matter where he starts. But if he's 20-30 feet from 2nd (instead of practically at the bag) he gets there anyway on a

non-catch and at least gives himself a fighting chance to get back to 1st if it's caught.

I wonder what it's like trying to throw to a base when Judge's massive back is screening you from your target. Brantley = hero.

But I'd particularly like to thank the Twins for not giving the Yankees a proper warmup before this series.

Ken Rosenthal finally finds someone his own height to talk to.

Altuve may be the shortest player in the major leagues, but today he doth stand astride the world like a Colossus.

Sort of like this, maybe?

You figure that the TV folks get enough kicks out of showing the contrast the other way around that, after last night, it's only fair.

I watched the replay on MLB network last night. That ninth inning was a thing of beauty. I mean, I obviously wouldn't have felt that way had I watched it in real time, but the joy the Yankees felt in the top of the 9th. So much fun. Knowing they would be moping off a few minutes later.

And then Chapman gets the first two outs. A seemingly harmless walk to Springer. Brantley had been double-switched out of the game, so you figure that Altuve wouldn't get much to hit. But you know, baseball.

Was surprised how quickly Buck was on that call. He knew it was gone even with that high fence out there. Plus he stopped talking immediately after his call and let the scene unfold. I know he gets a lot of grief, and some of it deserved, but that was a nice job.

Well that was definitely the SECOND best Game 6 of an LCS between Houston and New York ever.

And the second-best left field to first base double play in league championship series history

My issue with Buck isn't his game-calling per se, or his network-shilling, but rather, there's something underlying his tone that makes it seem as though he hates what he does for a living. Baseball's just not enough fun when he calls it, even when it's very fun, even when his calls are good ones.

Maybe that's unitentional, maybe not. Maybe he's just too high and mighty. But in the sense that's there's only 1 man in the world do do the national play by play of baseball's biggest games, I would choose a guy with a better energy, and more friendly companion, than Buck.
