Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 OK, I'll take the leap. A 7:20 start (which is kind of fucky?) Max Fried vs. Zach Wheeler.LFGM
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 usually they trip me up with a 7:35 start. 7:20 is just weird. I'm all for weird but starting a live event at a weird time isn't helpful for anyone.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 NYM (61‑57) Zack Wheeler (RHP, 9-6, 4.20)ATL (70‑50) Max Fried (LHP, 13-4, 4.11)
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Game is on regionally on MLB Network so maybe they have a little controlover changing start times?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 A good test. They beat up on nobodies and you know they'd be up for the Nats. What do they do against a team which on paper is much better than they are and contains Freddie F. Freeman?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Tidbit: Mets RHP Edwin Diaz has yielded at least a run in five of his past six appearances with a 11.12 ERA and four homers allowed in 5 2/3 innings, giving up a two-run homer in the ninth inning Sunday.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I confess I'm unCAHNfident. While I think we've proven we are every bit Washington's equal, the Braves have totally kicked our asses so far, and the ugly loss Sunday reminded me of the kind of failures we have had against them.Give me reasons to be CAHNfident
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Johnny Lunchbucket wrote:Give me reasons to be CAHNfident1) Freddie Freeman might only hit 7 HR's instead of 10 this series?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Would be a bad time to come down from the highs they have to come down from eventually, but I don't think the Braves are _that_ much better than the Mets, and the Mets are confident and riding high right now. They pitch better too, so if they keep the Braves guys in check, good things can happen.Fangraphs projections think the Mets will both lose and win one more game than the Braves going forward, percentage points better.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I think part of my trepidation is the realization that unless we take say, 7 or more of our remaining 9 games with them, we probably won't win the division. That's a big ask on my part and the odds have me highly UNCAHNFIDENT
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Perhaps someone could call F X Healy and get his series-kahnfidence take on things.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Howie also off. Like resting McNeil and Alonso on the same night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I don't dig SNY functionaries sitting in for Gary under any circumstances. Rose should be his backup. And I like the three man booth, and I would applaud the rotation of several ex-pitchers who have broadcasting aspirations to step in for Darling when he's away, and a rotation of ex-batters to step in for Keef.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 They should sub in Alyssa for Howie, see if anyone notices.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Hey, just win tonight. One game at a time is all you can do. Let's get these fuckers.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Johnny Lunchbucket wrote:Give me reasons to be CAHNfidentWell, their pen is at least as bad as ours and their starters not nearly as good. Also Swanson is currently IL'd, as is Markakis. On the other hand Freddie might be their 3rd best hitter right now.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Well, that helps a little.I'm still declaring tonight a Big Game since I'm also unconfident of Matz as a losing-streak stopper in game 2.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Gary Apple is probably a great guy irl and probably would be a perfectly acceptable talent in lamer cities but what a drop-off from Gary C.Also, I'm certain "Apple" ain't his real name. "Appel" maybe?
