Tidbit: Mets RHP Edwin Diaz has yielded at least a run in five of his past six appearances with a 11.12 ERA

and four homers allowed in 5 2/3 innings, giving up a two-run homer in the ninth inning Sunday.

While I think we've proven we are every bit Washington's equal, the Braves have totally kicked our asses so far, and the ugly loss Sunday reminded me of the kind of failures we have had against them.

Would be a bad time to come down from the highs they have to come down from eventually, but I don't think the Braves are _that_ much better than the Mets, and the Mets are confident and riding high right now. They pitch better too, so if they keep the Braves guys in check, good things can happen.





Fangraphs projections think the Mets will both lose and win one more game than the Braves going forward, percentage points better.

I think part of my trepidation is the realization that unless we take say, 7 or more of our remaining 9 games with them, we probably won't win the division.



That's a big ask on my part and the odds have me highly UNCAHNFIDENT

Well, their pen is at least as bad as ours and their starters not nearly as good. Also Swanson is currently IL'd, as is Markakis.

On the other hand Freddie might be their 3rd best hitter right now.

Gary Apple is probably a great guy irl and probably would be a perfectly acceptable talent in lamer cities but what a drop-off from Gary C.
