dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 No Spoilers, yet.I will just say that it was, minus a few nits, the greatest movie of this genre ever.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Wow, that's impressive. ShortCenter is going to see it with a buddy today. I'm guessing he'll want to see it again, at which point I'll try to catch it.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 My nerdish friends were super bonered up about this movie. I still wouldn't know what the hell was going on, I've seen virtually none of the last 20 years' worth of superhero movies.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Three hours of more or less nonstop fan-service. Save for one of the character retirements near the end... close to perfectly executed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 (edited) My local theatre had 41 showings of this film today, starting at 8:30 AM with the final one at 11:50 tonight.37 regular plus 4 more in 3DLooks like only 38 time/screen choices on the docket for SundayBut I'm on team FMan on this one, the appeal of these superhero films eludes me.And, let's face it, I highly doubt this movie is going to be the 'endgame' of anything. Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Seeing it tonight with my son and daughter-in-law!We like Hawkeye, the under-appreciated Avenger.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Good news - I'll be seeing it tomorrow at 9AM.Bad news - it is my grandson's 8th birthday "party", and I'll be there with about a dozen of his classmates and friends.I may be too shaken to vote for a while.Later
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Loved it! And a Mets mention, too!

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I gave it a 7. It was fun, and is the rare three-hour movie that doesn't seem overlong.

(SM=84)I saw the movie today. My own spoiler: (stop reading if you haven't seen it.)Incredible, unbelievable, the result of a severely damaged mind.Does anyone really put mayonnaise on a hot dog?The rest was totally believable. Later
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 (edited) Saw it today with my son. I gave it 4 out 5 (or 8 snaps here). Obviously the pay off is going to be better the more invested you are in the previous 21 movies. This one actually felt like three different movies in sequence, and they got a lot of good character work in without it feeling padded or boring. The end ties up the story arcs for several of the Original Avengers while setting up new storylines for some of the more recenlty introduced characters. Edited April 28, 2019 by Guest
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Lorcan and I saw it saturday, there were many moments when the entire theater started cheering etc ....
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 This link is spoilery, but questions 10 a-c resemble my own thoughts on the Mets' references in the movie: https://www.tvguide.com/news/avengers-endgame-burning-questions/https://www.tvguide.com/news/avengers-endgame-burning-questions/I mean, New York City post-snap is still going to have around 4 million people, larger than Chicago and Los Angeles are today, so would they not still be able to field a baseball team and draw fans?
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 I would have snapped twice in Chavez Ravine.Just to be sure.Later
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I thought it was great. I gave it nine snaps because I'm just not ALL IN the way some others might be.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 During gym class yesterday Lorcan told me that one of his classmates who is a known troublemaker spoiled the ending , everyone was pissed...teacher gave him detention

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 I've been with them since the beginning and it was as good a denouement as i could've hoped. Sure, the 2nd act was overlong, but Act I sets up everything great and Act III packed an emotional punch.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Was just reminded of how much I really did enjoy this while rehashing it with a co-worker. So funny and fun, especially in that thar middle. Hulk and the stairs, some Ant-Man or other's bladder control issues, the very idea of a Time Heist... it's just four-color joy in motion, really.=41Forever post_id=8397 time=1556413546 user_id=69]We like Hawkeye, the under-appreciated Avenger.

I feel like the series has been trying and failing to get me to care more about Hawkeye than I care to (and I genuinely enjoy the comics edition, especially in more recent, Matt Fraction-penned versions) for damn near a decade, and it's one of my least favorite things about the movies. And are we just leaving aside the fact that he basically became a less-efficient Punisher for five years to let him go back to his paper-cut-out happy-ending family... when complex, more interesting, fundamentally decent Black Widow gets fridged for the stupid Soul Gem?Hawkeye has always been my daughter's favorite, which may have more to with Jeremy Renner than the actual character. I don't know if they've even called him "Hawkeye" in the movies! It's always "Barnes." But he's our guy and we're sticking with him! Plus, his kids like baseball.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Almost perfect. Yes, I prefer Scarlett Johanssen and I find Hawkeye irritating. Two Met mentions were nice. Lebowski Thor was freaking awesome. And the bow was wrapped up nicely. One small thing, the point in the climactic battle where suddenly all the women ganged up together was a bit too pander-y for me. My wife groaned at that. But I quibble.9 snaps.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 I groaned at that too. That was was pandermonium. That was taken from the script of Kung-Fu Pander. It was dreamed up by execs eating at the Panderosa Steakhouse. That was Marvel going all, "We've kicked DC's ass in everything except Wonder Woman. We need a Chickz Rool Action shot. Write that in there for me. Don't worry about whether it makes sense."Besides, everybody was looking to clear a path for Captain Marvel. Isn't she supposed to be faster than any of them?
