Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Mets RH Matt Harvey (0-1, 4.80 ERA) vs. Braves TBD (?-?, ?.??? ERA)
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 Harvey pitching for his career?
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 That hadn't occurred to me but perhaps for a spot in the rotationin the near future? Speculation is Vargas will be good for a start inSan Diego next weekend. Matz recovered nicely after that bad firstinning last night so he's on less of a hot seat than Harv? We'll see.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I have yet to see too much from the 2018 Harvey that is different from the 2017 Harvey. It's getting harder and harder to believe that he is going to turn around.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 I know it's cold and all, but Harv's average FB velocity is 92.6 per Fangraphs. If nothing else, we know the spring training guns were definitely on the juice.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 He looked so good in that first start. Come on, Harv.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 His pitches still have movement, even very similar movement, though his velocity has come down every year ,even from last year (but it's a cold small sample still for this year)Mainly, he's working slower and guys are making more out of the zone contact. suggesting that he's just not fooling them or the pitch isn't breaking as much as usual so it doesn't drop away? But the movement seems similar so perhaps he's just missing his spots. There does seem to be some indication that he's not getting his changeup as low as he usually does. Difference between crushing it at the bottom of the zone and swinging over it?it's such a game of inches. The whole difference here might just be that previously Harvey could pinpoint the ball to a 3in circle and now he can only hit a 5in circle.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2018 Posted April 19, 2018 The right side of the infield showing very limited range there. Gonzalez was holding the runner on but that was one of the softest grounders I’ve seen get through an infield.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 How long are they going to go before they get their first hit tonight? My over/under= 4 1/3.Later

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Blevvy gives up another 2 hits to lefties
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Make that 3 lefties with hits, the 3rd merely clears the bases
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Make it 3 hits to lefties and 3 runs allowed.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Um. Why would you bring in our lone overworked lefty tonight?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 Hey we're one swing, and then another 4 swings, from making this a game again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2018 Posted April 20, 2018 One plus three now.Nimmo does what Nimmo does, getting on base when we really needed him to get on base.Got to get him into the lineup.
