  1. I liked a thing I saw floating around a few weeks ago - the DH leaves the game when you remove your starting pitcher. 1. "Saves" starters from getting "hurt" in phantom batting/running injuries 2. You added a 26th roster spot, might as well use it. 3. You're going to pinch-hit for your relievers anyway. 4. Strategery.

  3. Yeah, for a team with a bunch of guys who can whack the ball but not enough logical places to play them, this could be a good thing. We'll see, I guess.
  4. Arenado can fall off a cliff too. And then you're stuck with a fucking albatross of a contract. HARD. PASS. I'm with you.
  5. Hard pass on Marte, and you sure as fuck don't trade Nimmo for him.
  6. Starling Marte is Brandon Nimmo, just older and worse. I don't want him anywhere near this team. Arenado, on the other hand...
  7. I was excited by the reactions too. Reminds me a bit of Davey in 1984, where he knew those guys from the minors.
  8. I love that the one vote has sent MFY fans into apoplexy, because that tells me a lot more about those fans than it does about the Hall, CI, or the voting process.
  9. I thought the actual announcement doesn't come until 6pm ET?
  10. =G-Fafif post_id=30230 time=1579625993 user_id=55] Braves sign formerly Felix Hernandez to a minor league contract.

  13. Everyone.
  14. Not for nothing, but remember how we acquired Jake Marisnick despite the fact that he can't hit major league pitching? He and Beltran *were* teammates on that Astros team. I don't know what that means, but I wonder how involved Marisnick was and whether that made him such an offseason priority. That'd be a very Mets way to go about sign stealing "Hey, lot's not develop our own system for this very simple thing, let's just grab some retread(s)? Were Carlos and J.D. like, this "computer" stuff. so weird man. Actually that's maybe not true. These guys were actually decoding the signs, not just reading them. Maybe Marisnick was good with pattern recognition or whatever so why not have a 25th guy on teh roster that's gonna be able to hop back tothe video room plenty and is good at decoding the pitcher's apparently garbage deceptions. Right? That's kinda what I'm saying. I fully admit that it's a stretch, and if I was a journalist I wouldn't publish it, but it seems like there are dots there that may or may not connect.
  15. I'll oddly remember his half-season with us more fondly than the stats would indicate. I will also perpetually remember him as the other half of the Wilmer Flores Thing.

  18. No, that would definitely be pretty shocking.
  19. =stevejrogers post_id=29880 time=1579200253 user_id=57] Mend fences and bring in Alfonso.
  20. This is a very good thing.

  22. I was honestly looking forward to having him manage the team, but the more I think about it, the more I fall on the side of letting him go. There are just too many questions.
  23. I'm a little surprised he/they haven't made a statement of some kind yet. I guess they're waiting for fallout to settle a bit?
