  1. They're just holding his innings down so he's available to start Game 4 of the NLCS, if necessary.
  2. Yeah, it's the cinnamon in the chili that is completely unnecessary.
  3. I've done a lot of that over the years to pad out the Mets autograph collection; I even still have a few out right now. Got two guys back from the Lexington Legends a few weeks ago -- Kevin McGowan and Robert Carson.
  4. Those Primanti frenchfrywiches are REALLY good. Skyline is gross.
  5. Who the fuck is Geoff Hartlieb? I swear to god this fuckin' team.
  6. That Diaz drop is... significant. Yikes.
  7. I wear my (mid-00s, IIRC?) road gray jersey exclusively, although I do have a 1993 pinstripe jersey with the swoosh which I should probably update. I also have two Rochester Red Wings jerseys (a home with #17 on it, an unnumbered away) and a Stony Brook gamer that I got from our coach when they updated their uniforms several years ago. And way more hats than I probably should, but the only Mets ones in regular rotation are the traditional blue and orange one and a red and white one with a Santa hat on the NY that gets pulled out of the bottom of the bin every December.
  8. Look, friends, Billy McKinney is a nice player, but he wasn't going to be part of a meaningful pennant run. Thanks for the memories, Billy. Looking forward to his name coming up in a 2025 off-season quiz and thinking "oh yeah, THAT guy."
  9. Agreed, although it says something that baseball has done SO MANY stupid rule changes in the past few years that they almost make the DH seem reasonable.
  10. I checked his splits, though, and Burnes, like deGrom, is better during the day. So maybe that plays into it also. And hey, if you want to be the best, you gotta beat the best. So credit Ned Yost or Craig Counsell or Harvey Kuenn or whoever the Brewers' skipper is these days.
  11. I do understand that logic. Between deGrom and Burnes, we could have a combined *double* no-hitter today.
  12. I was thinking about that recently as I was musing about how awful some of the photography is on some of the 1970s Topps cards. They probably only shot one or two games, tops, and they're not going to take more than a few photos of each guy. So I guess you get what you get once you get it back to the lab and developed.
  13. Yeah, I don't get what Asdrubal brings us that we don't already have.
  14. See, he's already hurt! Perfect fit.
  15. Donaldson can flat out hit, and he'd be a perfect fit for us.
  16. It's not a contest? One night, for less than a normal NYC hotel room? That's going to be booked in a fraction of a second.
  17. Juan Lagares is an Angel? I hadn't realized. I also hadn't realized that he's offensively terrible even by Lagares standards this year, .230/.255/.362 with only four walks in 158 PA.
  18. This, to me, is still the reason that baseball is the greatest game. Because the Bills could have run out of time, but the Angels *couldn't.* Chapman had to get those last outs. And I know it's not comparable, but even so, the Braves still had to get those three outs in the top of the ninth. Were we going to score eighteen runs to tie the game? No, probably not. But we *could* have. (Theoretically.)
  19. I love Nimmo, but I think the Braves should hire this Boucher fella as their general manager STAT.
  20. Yeah, I'm surprised that 904-year contract didn't get as many complaints as the Bonilla deal.
  21. The good news is that because they're making money off this, they're lowering ticket prices and cutting commercial time. (Oh, wait.)
  22. Good for an off day tomorrow. Let everyone rest up, and then go get them Phillies.
  23. I love this new Lindor.
  24. We traded for Diaz specifically to strike out that guy in that spot. VERY nice.
  25. Nice of Snitker to pinch-hit with a pitcher here so this rally ends. Thanks, pal!
