  1. Barnes has been *terrible* all season. No idea how he's lasted this long.
  2. Nice! Probably not more than a serviceable reliever at this point in his career, but cool nonetheless.
  3. I mean, yeah, technically, Jacob Resnick. But if we were counting on any of those guys to be major contributors in 2021, then we aren't really a first-place team.
  4. Jake could be batting as high as fifth in this lineup and it would make sense.
  5. Hey, there's a non-zero chance they go in there and just sweep the fuck out of these guys. This team is the real deal, friends.
  6. My first thought was that Piggy is really responsive through-the-mail autograph signer so you could ask him that way, but it looks like he hasn't signed in a while, so his age might be catching up to him.
  7. There's a world of difference between "oversliding the bag and getting tagged out" and "your torso loses contact with the base for a millisecond but you're still on the base."
  8. I don't see any reason to keep Tovar or Maybin on the roster long-term, so I have to figure they're "victims of the numbers game," as they say. And I would much rather lose Barnes than Smith too.
  9. I score at the game too, every time. I even made my own Excel file and print and get it spiral-bound at Staples to fit my needs.

It'd be a grey area for sure but they already use interpretations in rule at plays at the bases wrt contact and obstruction I agree with this. I'm fine with replay being used to correct things that the umpires should be able to see, even if they miss them sometimes. I'm not comfortable with it being used to correct things no human being could possibly see. For 150 years a player who slid into third like Villar did would have been safe, no question, no controversy. And now suddenly we find out we were wrong all that time. For 150 years we also had runners called out who reached the base before the throw, balls called foul that landed fair, trapped balls called catches. But those were controversial, and I'm glad we can finally get them right. So let's make certain kinds of calls unreviewable. Sliding past the base and getting tagged has always been an out, if the umpire saw it. So review it. Momentarily losing contact with the base while sliding over it has never been an out. So don't review it. This. Both of those calls last night were bullshit and everyone involved knew it.
  12. George Thomas COUGAR Mellencamp. Also, methinks Tebow quit too soon.
  13. The first Seawolf Met!
  14. the mets win the damn thing
  15. Oh, this is a good idea when you're up by one run. Bring in the guy who's given up four home runs in eleven innings.
  16. Wow, they lucked into that one.
  17. Hey, if they tie this, the 13th inning beer technically gets credited to tomorrow.
  18. They mentioned this a few weeks ago - the rule is that if the pitcher's spot made the last out, you're allowed to go back to the batter before him.
  19. Wayne said Loup hasn't had a save since 2014, and I keep forgetting he's like 35.
  20. That was a Kooian slide.
  21. It's late. You could probably bring Diaz back in to pitch the bottom of the 12th and nobody would notice.
  22. IT'S JOHNESHWY TIME, BABY!
  23. BIG HIT KHALIL LEE!
  24. Squeeze? Squeeze.
  25. I almost died a little bit inside right there. Yikes.
