  1. "Michael Conforto, Phillie" gives me the shakes. Dear goodness, no.
  2. vs Ryan Howard: 7-36, 14 Ks vs Chase Utley: 8-36, 14 Ks vs Adam Dunn: 8-26, 6 Ks vs Jimmy Rollins: 6-24 vs Shane Victorino: 4-23 vs Adam LaRoche: 6-23 vs Adrian Gonzalez: 4-16, 8 Ks Brian McCann hit him okay -- an .848 OPS, but it was only nine singles and two doubles. And Chipper was 5-for-15, but Chipper had like a career .800 average against us, so that was pretty damn good.
  3. Holy moley. A True Met.

  6. I'd be stunned if Thor doesn't take the QO. Nobody's paying him $18M next year off two straight lost seasons. Conforto has some decisions to make, because someone will give him a big multi-year deal if the Mets don't.
  7. Pierce and Maris are the only ones I really quibble with, and maybe Murtaugh because I never quite know how to evaluate managers. But the other seven all make logical sense. But I'm definitely a Big Hall proponent.
  8. Shinjo is absolutely a top-five all-time Met favorite of mine.
  9. A few innings half-watching during the podcast, and a few innings half-watching at the bar while hosting trivia Wednesday night.
  10. Seriously, fuck Texas.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: As I pause to walk the dogs, I give Seawolf a second bonus question: How many Mets first-rounders were born in New York? Five.
  12. Jeez. Let's go with an average of 1.53 first-rounders per season.
  13. Darryl Strawberry.
  14. Right, but my (and 62s) point is that in absolutely no way, if 2022 started tomorrow, is Stock in the rotation over Megill. I mean, whatever, this all academic anyway so it doesn't matter, but if you're going to do it, I feel like it should made a modicum of sense.
  15. Yeah, I agree with 62 - Megill is (on this list) a lock for the rotation. Stock is no more a "veteran" than Megill is - 72 innings, almost all in relief, to Megill's 89.
  16. This team hasn't won dick in years. Clear 'em out and start over. (Although I'm sad to see Bones go, who was almost Aljacksonian in his longevity.)
  17. I wish baseball players cared as much about this stuff as we did, because I feel like the real response is for the Rays to roll over and die. But GOODNESS it would be fun to see them sweep them out of existence.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: I'm not sure either of the Mets' top two catchers is back in 2022. Huh? We're stuck with McCann for the forseeable future.
  19. =G-Fafif post_id=78518 time=1632505599 user_id=55] Except the Mets are No. 1.
  20. Plus, they've got Reggie Jackson trying to kill the Queen and we've got Bernard Gilkey getting bopped in the head by a fly ball. So there's that. I would absolutely read a Mets/Angels book. I wonder if the better hook is "secondary-team status," and you loop the White Sox and A's in there.
  21. Our magic number, for what it's worth, is still 20.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: "Get Metsmerized!" got more play in this documentary than it ever did in its own time. Underrated in its genius.
  23. I meant "not matter" in a *good* way, like we'd already clinched.
  24. I wish these two Mets/Sox games didn't matter for us, but we need to win them too.
