  1. Didn't he pitch for Toronto against us at one point last season? I believe he got a nice ovation already. (Which means now he gets the boos.)
  2. He's just here to talk about Rawlings, Greg.
  3. I honestly thought he'd help us last year at one point. Guess not.
  4. Mickey Lolich doesn't count as "all-world," but he certainly had a significant run with the Tigers before his lone shitty Met season.
  5. That's a good point. We'll lose the first two games 1-0 and 2-1, then lose the next three 8-4, 10-7, and 13-9. Baseball!
  6. IF this happens, and IF deGrom is healthy, holy shit at the top of this rotation next year. (We're going to play .400 baseball because the other three starters will still be terrible, but hey, whaddya gonna do.) Carrasco, Taijuan, and someone else they sign (Rondon? Cobb? Kikuchi?). https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/starting-pitcher/available/https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/starting-pitcher/available/ Carrasco and Walker: 1-13, 6.63 in the second half last year. I definitely still have... concerns.

  8. I thought it was "Sterling" until about six months ago. Regardless, happy to have him on board!
  9. Former Rockie RHP claimed by the Mets on waivers, sez the internet. 17 ER in 17 1/3 MLB innings over the last two years. Cool pickup, Mets.
  10. Man, I can't wait until he gets 28 AB in April and then gets DFAed. Good signing, Mets!
  11. Right? Shit. What a dumpster fire this fucking team is.
  12. For the love of FUCK WILL YOU DO SOMETHING, METS?
  13. Interesting. Jones was drafted in 1978, pitched in four games with the Brewers in 1982, but didn't hit the majors again until the end of the 1986 season with Cleveland at age 29 (!) -- so yeah, he was pretty much always the "old guy."
  14. Felicianesque in his ability to come in and do exactly what was asked of him.
  15. Someone will absolutely give him a "guaranteed" rotation spot. He's proven to be worth it. And before we get too ahead of ourselves, our rotation currently consists of Taijuan Walker, who couldn't get anyone out once they took away sticky stuff; Tylor Megill, who turned back in to a pumpkin in August; Carlos Carrasco, who pitched to a 6.04 ERA; and deGrom and Peterson, both of whom are coming off injuries. So yeah, I'd pencil Matz in at no worse than #3 right now and see what happens.
  16. Yeah, I'd pass at that amount too. Thanks for the memories, Loup.
  17. No, there's no compelling argument for Jose Fernandez to have waived the ten-year requirement. Lightning in a bottle, yes, but four years isn't enough.
  18. You left ARod off your list, but here's my vote. Joe Nathan David Ortiz Barry Bonds Todd Helton Manny Ramirez Alex Rodriguez Billy Wagner (edit: left off Wags)
  19. I think "00 Days" might be my odds-on favorite to take this whole thing.
  20. That's pretty funny. I literally LOLed. Still love ya, Noah. And as to the gut-punch thing -- I purely mean *in the moment.* Not long-term, not "worst Mets decisions ever." Just free agency moves that were like WHAT THE FUCK I THOUGHT HE WAS OUR GUY.

And thus, worthy of some Seawolf autography. He is, in fact, already in the autographed card collection, next to Jim Bibby, Terrel Hansen, and Wilbur Huckle.
  23. Ruddy is a phantom Met, right?
  24. Yeah, I'd be on Team Seiya. Sounds like the kind of move Cohen would make, too.
