  1. #2 is Trevor Hildenberger?
  2. This is awesome!
  3. =kcmets post_id=77649 time=1631586214 user_id=53] McNeil sucks, and needs a haircut
  4. For them: Corey Kluber, who we haven't seen since 2016 (but we lit him up). Assuming Lindor knows all his secrets from their Cleveland days, which means we should be able to crush him. For us: Taijuan Walker, who hasn't won a game since... July 3 against the MFYs! 7:45 first pitch, which means we should end just in time for brunch tomorrow morning.
  5. I *told* you these guys were just as bad as we are.
  6. For us: Tylor Megill, who has literally NEVER LOST TO THE YANKEES For them: Jordan Montgomery, who we fuckin' lit up on July 3 and who lost to Michael Fuckin' Wacha last summer. Joey Gallo? Has 64 Ks in 128 AB since being acquired. Anthony Rizzo? Hitting .265 since being acquired. Andrew Heaney? 7.71 ERA since being acquired. They have two good hitters -- Judge and Stanton. End of list. Everyone else is just as shitty as our guys are. There is NO REASON why we can't sweep these fuckers. None. They are NOT better than us. LET'S DO THIS THING.

  8. I like to think of Botty as Creepy Sun Baby.
  9. We're not counting it, because I'm super excited for the Kelvin Torve episode next week.
  10. I love that shirt. Still have it too.
  11. If he was released by Toronto, he's basically free. I don't see how we get more than 8-10 innings out of him this month, but yeah, sure, I guess.
  12. Load him into a cannon and fire him into Flushing Bay.
  13. Berenguer was hardly a young buck by that point, having already spent parts of three seasons in the bigs. And he wasn't even the best pitcher in the system at that point. Hubie was obviously a prospect, but wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire (although he did have a Jefferies-esque end to the 1980 season). But Mookie was the offensive star for the 1980 Tides.
  14. I'm finishing off the 74-79 run right now. 76 is done, and I've got a few dozen 75s and 77s left, mostly stars. I'm missing four 79s (Nolan Ryan, Bill Robinson, Pete Rose, and Sixto Lezcano) and just one 78 (George Brett). Just started on the 74s so I've got like 450 still to go.
  15. =kcmets post_id=75955 time=1630338729 user_id=53] A: A 55-footer. Q: What's Javy's favorite pitch to flail at and miss?
  16. Anyone still call the curveball the "Uncle Charlie?" I feel like that was a thing when I was a kid.
  17. UL Washington played in parts of eleven seasons, and Mickey Klutts batted 1.000 in 1978. So there's that.
  18. =Fman99 post_id=75926 time=1630324113 user_id=86] This story has made me disproportionately angry. I never boo at the ballpark. But they're booing us, booing me. Has any team ever hated its own fans as much as this one? Ever?
  19. This is a *great* Kooz/Seaver story that I'd never heard before. https://www.facebook.com/SNY/posts/5053313348029026https://www.facebook.com/SNY/posts/5053313348029026
  20. The Hot Corner wrote: Tonight the Mets will face a pitcher (Sean Nolin) who is 0-2 with an ERA of 9.00 and WHIP of 2.43 this season. His career numbers aren't aren't much better, 1-5, ERA 7.28 and WHIP 1.90. The Mets will start Marcus Stroman, who has has pitched very well the majority of the season, but has suffered from a total lack of offensive support. He has deserved much better. I will not be surprised if the Mets somehow make Nolin look like the second coming of Koufax tonight. Stroman will likely give another strong start, but will unfortunately give up 2 runs, which virtually assures him another loss. I hope I am wrong, but this is how I see it in my mind. Luckily, MLB has me blacked out for all Washington games, so I won't need to watch the Mets flail and fail offense. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised when I will be pleasantly surprised when I check the score tomorrow morning. And one of those games was against us (and Stroman), the first gave of a DH two weeks ago. But yup. This looks like a tidy 2-1 loss tonight, because this team is abjectly terrible. (Saw Nolin earlier this summer here in Rochester, where he pitched five mostly clean innings against the WooSox.)
  21. YA. GOTTA. BELIEVE.
  22. Okay, so maybe winning all 13 was a stretch.
  23. In 2009, MLB awarded an exclusive contract to Topps, effectively removing all the other companies from the market. The MLBPA still had a contract with Panini, allowing them to produce cards of players with no logos. The Fleer and Donruss brands have floated around the past few years - Panini makes a current "Donruss" set that hearkens back to the 80s sets.
