  2. Ralph just referred to Eddie Murray as the "unknown slugger" for the Dodgers. Uh, Ralph?
  3. Love it! This was actually Donnels' ML debut. I was a big Chris Donnels fan.
  4. Old skool avatar, Kase! Love it.
  5. Wrong Ledez(s)ma. Wilfredo Ledezma: Aaron Ledesma:
  6. I'd trade Perez in heartbeat. I think he could definitely bring back some useful parts.
  7. I didn't realize that I'd ever turned off the deathwatch.
  8. I'm here, but I'm on my way to bed. All you, man.
  9. Pick #1158, 38th Round: Arizona selects RHP Jesse Orosco. Has to be Jesse O's son, right? Pick #1242, 41st Round: Seattle selects OF Henry Cotto.
  10. With the 538th pick... http://sbuchris.blogspot.com/2008/06/with-538th-pick-in-2008-mlb-draft.html Seawolves SP Tom Koehler! Yay, Tom!
  11. ="Frayed Knot"]#165 - Anthony Bass, RHP, Wayne State Univ Not quite sure how we wound up with consecutive picks in round 5 there. MLB's draft tracker has Bass going to San Diego with that pick.
  12. Are there any Beckhams left? Apparently, they're all the rage this year. Everyone's picking them.
  13. Doesn't look like a wrestler.
  14. Nah, it's kinda like golf, where the lowest score wins.
  15. You can never have too many fat catchers, I say. Bring me Spanky LaValliere!
  16. So if Aaron Heilman wins Player of the Month, he takes home all three trophies? Sweet.
  17. Found it. Manny Acosta: Acosta's third save taken away May 8, 2008 ATLANTA (AP) Manny Acosta lost a save Thursday when an official scorer realized he mistakenly awarded one in the previous night following the Atlanta Braves' 5-2 win over the San Diego Padres. Acosta, the Braves' fill-in closer with Rafael Soriano on the disabled list, entered with a 5-2 lead Wednesday after Will Ohman got the first out of the ninth inning. Soriano retired Callix Crabbe and Khalil Greene to end the game. Braves official scorer Jack Wilkinson awarded Acosta his third save, and the save was included on the boxscore and postgame report. The save was removed following a review by the commissioner's office and the Elias Sports Bureau, baseball's statistician. To qualify for the save, Acosta would have had to start the inning with a three-run lead or enter the game with the potential tying run on base, at the plate or on deck.
  18. Yep. There was a guy a week or two ago (don't remember the team) who had a save credited, then taken away the next day. He came in with one out in the ninth and a three-run lead and should not have gotten a save.
  19. Could this be the end for John Smoltz?
  20. Wait, scratch that. Six runs.
  21. The combination of Jose Veras, Edwar Ramirez, and LaTroy Hawkins has given up five runs in the seventh. If only they had a hard-throwing young pitcher who could pitch in the late innings... /giggle
  22. Okay, make it 5-3 Mets.
  23. 38 pitches, three walks, a balk, a passed ball, one run... all in the 1st inning. /giggle
  24. It's probably the most thinking Geideman ever did compiling a checklist, save for the 1992 Upper Deck set when he assigned numbers that ended in 69 to players with porn-star-sounding names. (Dick Schofield at No. 269, Heathcliff Slocumb at No. 569, and Dickie Thon at No. 769.) Nice!
  25. Old skool Ron Darling.
