Once again, I'd love Freel. Not necessarily for any rational reason, just because he's the type of player I really enjoy, a Super Joe-type.
  2. Pedro IP: 5 Joba IP: 4 Pedro ER: 3 Joba ER: 1 Pedro K: 5 Joba K: 7 Final Score Mets-Giants: Mets 4, Giants 2 Final Score MFYs-Jays: Yankees 8, Jays 3 Neither will factor in the decision. The Mets will break a 2-2 tie with an eighth-inning Carlos Delgado home run off Jack Taschner, and Joba will be out on pitch count early.
  3. Throw Matt Garza (25th) and Joey Devine (27th) in there also.
  4. It being MiniWolf's first trip to Shea, I'd like one to keep in his photo album. We got the print-at-home tickets, which aren't really stubs. Anyone?
  5. Especially if it's a non-playoff year across town, the Yankees are going to throw huge dollars at Teixeira. I'd love to add him to the roster, though... we'll see what happens. He's going to get a big payday either way.
  6. Ooh! What a neat site! We should invite the owner in for a chat.
  7. Plus the Mets are going out there jetlagged after the late start last night. If they lose tonight, we'll all be ready to jump off the bridge again.
  8. There's only one "3", baby.
  9. What ever happened to Healy? He just kinda vanished.
  10. It's NOT JOE FUCKING TORRE. It's the Dodgers, it's the first weekend of the summer, it's a million things. You see Joe Fucking Torre shirts in the crowd? Yankee hats? NO. You see Mets hats, and Keith Fucking Hernandez shirts, and Russ Martin shirts for the Dodger fans, and Ricky Fucking Otero shirts. (Yes, I saw one yesterday afternoon.) Those are Mets fans, Jon & Joe. Mets fans. I know... stunning! Mets fans?!? In New York!?! But this is Yankee Country! These must all be Joe Torre fans! It has nothing at all to do with the last year of the ballpark, or Johan Santana pitching, or the fact that the team has won 4 out of 5, or because we all have man-crushes on David Wright. It's all Joe Fucking Torre. DAMMIT, fellas. You made it until the ninth inning, then set me off.
  11. Walk Chavez to pitch to Santana? Isn't Santana a better hitter right now?
  12. Miller: "A beautiful night here in New York, in the shadow of the legendary Yankee Stadium." Morgan: "Tonight we see the Mets take on Yankee great Joe Torre and the Los Angeles Dodgers." Miller: "You know, Joe, Yankee Stadium is really just a few minutes away from where we are right now." Morgan: "Johan Santana pitching for the Mets tonight. Here's a guy who probably should have been a Yankee this year." I should get hired as a Sunday Night Baseball scriptwriter. It's going to be a long night listening to them spooge over Torre for nine innings.

  14. Good to renew old acquaintances (Kase & KB, JD, StevieJeets), and meet some new folks (Gwreck, Mendoza, Edgy, Doc & friend, sharpie & Lenny, Chicken, et al). Edgy, sorry I didn't get a chance to get down to chat with you... and sorry to everyone that we kinda vanished in the fourth inning. When you're with a two-year-old, and your seats are six miles above sea level, it's hard to get up and down from there. MiniWolf just needed to move around, so we went down to the team store for a bit on field level, where we saw Mr. Met (thrilling!). We bounced back up a level and watched a half-inning, but we were out of there at back to the car by the seventh, and listened to the comeback on the LIE.
  15. You weren't kidding about 7 am... nailed it! We're in for the restaurant. Save us three seats... we'll be there probably around 2ish. If the game's rained out, at least we'll have gotten our tickets from you. Considering weather... should we park at the hotel and then drive to Shea? Or park at Shea and walk/train to restaurant? Keep in mind we have a 2 year old who's in a strollers-are-for-babies phase.
  16. Back when the CPF was scrawled on stone tablets.
  17. ...an ex-Met soon.
  18. Tatis vs Park, almost ten years after the 2 grand slams in an inning game. Ron Darling, talking about giving up ten runs in 2/3 of an inning. He was off by a run. Ugly. http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=4277 Look at Gary Carter batting seventh. He really did fall off the table quickly, didn't he?
  19. Sportsline says Park is 4-for-4 (1.1 IP, 0 H) with the bases loaded and two out this year.
  20. And it's Chan Hoooooooooooooooooooo!
