  1. And the Phillies are down to their last out with the tying run at the plate, which means Feliz is going to hit this one into the Monongahela, or whatever river it is that's in Philly.
  2. And a great play by Jose Reyes to get Favre on the ground ball. Wow.
  3. Huge out by Joe Smith. If Mike and the Mad Dog were in Philly, callers would be ready to trade Ryan Howard to Cuba after an 0-for-5 with four Ks.
  4. Sabathia in his career against the Mets: http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=6800
  5. FERNANDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
  6. Baseball card geeks spooge over LaPorta; I guess we'll see. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cleveland bring him up this year.
  7. Sunuvabitch. I just clicked over to my fantasy league, and unless Wags comes back and gets a W, he might have just cost me a fucking win this week. Dickhead.
  8. I'll second that. I know Feliciano did his job, but that post-delay Howard AB is the game right there. (Or, at least, in retrospect, it could have been.) You want your best guy in that spot. Let Wagner get the big outs, and let Feliciano face the bottom of the order in the ninth.
  9. I don't like Jayson Werth. I'd bet he's a .300 hitter against us easily.
  10. Zvon wrote: BIG K of Howard. Thats the 120th time he's wiffed this season. That's a really startling stat. He's on pace for 218 K's this season. Wow. These power guys just don't care about striking out, do they?
  11. ]Yankees New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera will be named with the other pitchers and reserves. The plan is for Rivera to pitch the final All-Star inning in Yankee Stadium history. BAAAAAAAARF.
  12. Found downloadable versions of "Past Time" and "Ted Fucking Williams" around the blogosphere, both of which are excellent. Might have to grab this on Tuesday.
  13. AG/DC wrote: Gallo's still alive? I was about to say the same thing. I loved his 1986 Mets calendar.
  14. I don't know that anyone here wants to deal Beltran. I think those that look to deal him are your crazy radio show callers.
  15. Interesting; I poked around the internets for a while, and there's a lot of interesting buzz about this. Titles: 1. Past Time 2. Ted Fucking Williams 3. Gratitude (For Curt Flood) 4. Broken Man 5. Satchel Paige 6. Fernando 7. Long Before My Time 8. Jackie's Lament 9. Sometimes I Dream of Willie Mays 10. The Death of Big Ed Delahanty 11. Harvey Haddix 12. The Yankee Flipper 13. The Closer
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: It might also be possible to trade him to a contender who might want to strengthen their bench and thinks a "change of scenery" might help Marlon. The Mets wouldn't get a lot for him, but shedding the debt and getting a potentially useful minor leaguer wouldn't be the worst thing they could do. Isn't that exactly what happened when the Mets got him from LA? Somehow I doubt that lightning's going to strike twice, but that'd be great.
  17. Apparently, two drunk people. Or perhaps fellow brain damage sufferers.
  18. G-Fafif wrote: Per your original question, on Cleon's bust, I get the feeling somebody sent the sculptor the wrong picture. It would be a very Met thing to do. How fucking great would that be? Somewhere in the Ford plant there's a bust of Cleon Jones, in uniform, with former plant supervisor Fred Delahanty's name under it.
  19. OUCH. Felix Pie, I believe, had a twisted testicle during spring training this year.
  20. Interesting old thread, including alternative versions of StevieJeets and MGiM.
  21. ="AG/DC"]I took a trip down your street: http://cranepoolforum.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=799&sid=6fe03adf4c4192f02e29f098a6ca7e35 I already have my tickets for Genghis Khan Night.
  22. I'd pass on Hundley, but the other nine are all certainly worthy of some sort of recognition. I'd say that the first five are the most likely candidates, with Orosco-Darling-Hojo-Cashen-Davey in decreasing order of likelihood.
  23. Done, with my rankings: 1. Ozomatli -- They took it and made it their own; they did their thing, dog. 2. Branford Marsalis -- Gets a hat bump. 3. Punch Brothers -- Classic, old skool version, but "root for the Cubbies..." eh. Harry Caray they're not. 4. Candlebox -- Not bad, actually. I likes me the rock n roll. 5. Gretchen Wilson -- I enjoyed that she rocked it out a bit. 6. Lloyd -- Bleh. 7. John Pizzarelli -- Bleh. 8. Gammo -- Not bad, but jeez, he looks old. Aneurysms will do that to you, eh? 9. Cab -- Do they have naked pictures of Stuart Scott? How did they get in this? 10. REO Speedwagon -- Awful.
  24. Well, it described them at one time. It described them a lot more than it describes half the artists on the list.
