Edgy's right, but there's no money in a Cooperstown game, which is why it's scuttled. Baseball cares about history, but only in that it serves an economic end. They'll pay players to fly to Japan, because there's millions of dollars there. Not so in central NY.

You can't possibly deny their influence. Who did what they did before they did? Nobody. Rome may have taken it to another level, and could run logical circles around either of them, but M&MD will always be the originals. And haven't they hated each other for years? I don't think that's news.

Current Met Brady Clark was managed by Bobby Valentine in 2002. Bobby was in "Nazo no h�mu p�ji sarar�man neo" (aka "Neo The Office Chuckler") with Billy Blanks, who was on an episode of "ER" with Laura Ceron. Ceron, of course, was in Rails and Ties with Kevin Bacon. Steve Eastin, who was also in Rails and Ties, was in The Scout with Tim McCarver, who broadcast the 1991 MLB All-Star Game, featuring Dodgers pitcher Mike Morgan.

The last few years, Topps (and Upper Deck, to a lesser extent) have allowed "mistake" cards to "slip" through the cracks into packs. Inevitably they get discovered, interest goes up, prices go up, and everybody wins, except for fans. For example, the Derek Jeter card last year with a photoshopped Mickey Mantle and George Bush in the background, or the 2006 Topps Alex Gordon (Royals) rookie card that wasn't supposed to be produced because of the new-at-the-time "rookie card" licensing agreement. Anyway... they have six short-printed "mistakes" (I'm not going to dignify them by calling them errors, which have a long and storied baseball card history) in their recently-released '08 Series 2 set: an Al Gore "Presidential Campaign" card, two Japanese players (Fukudome and Yabuta), one Cuban player (the White Sox' Alexei Ramirez), a "2012?"
